24 in our state capital last year. None (or minimal) where I live. Not that long ago (I think 2014/2015), homicides in this county hit a 60 year low (since the FBI started keeping such stats.)
11 homicides so far this year, mostly under age 25. 8 aggravated assaults, but none domestic so far. Our city has just under 99,000 persons. Our mayor has created a task force to try to find a solution.
We've had one murder in the city we live in, since moving here in August 2019. Very, very unlike where we use to live, Jacksonville, Florida.
The shootings and killing are every where. There has been one or two daily shootings here where I live. Many of the shootings are taking place n public businesses like malls, super markets, events.
With so, so many people in the U.S. that have at least one firearm in their home, that firearm isn't always used as protection. Domestic Disputes that are either murder or murder/suicide, dispute with a neighbor that turns into murder, job-related disputes, gang wars, robbery, road rage, unhappy restaurant/store customers and "virus" violence. Seems like I'm always reading about someone somewhere in NYC or Pennsylvania getting angry about something and pulling a gun out to threaten a restaurant or store employee. And, don't even want to discuss all of the shootings in certain parts of Chicago each weekend.
Yes. And the totally corrupt judicial system not punishing violent criminals, plus governors (like Cuomo, who I think started doing this in January 2019) opening up the prisons and letting already convicted violent criminals out to walk freely among us. The left wants chaos, they want street violence, they want people to be confused and to feel unsafe. Then people will beg for the government to "do something." And they will happily react, moving forward with the civilian disarmament program and erecting a police state. This is an old story.
Why so much crime, including homicides? Failure to both support the laws and prosecute lawlessness. At the root cause of this are progressive politicians and DAs. You know who's funding their elections.
I'm with you on the first part, not sure about the other parts. I've lost track- I think a couple of recent incidents brings it to 12 or 13 so far this year. Very small city. Main cause: drugs.
