Do you find that watching and hearing the constant coverage of the Las Vegas shooting is causing you stress? I can feel the stress when I see the pictures of the victims. Stress can lead to irritability, among other things. I saw a post a few minutes ago that was totally unexpected. I wonder if it was caused by the stress of seeing the coverage?

My husband watched the coverage of the 911 bombings nonstop for days. I could see that it was causing him to become more irritable. After the second day, I refused to watch it. It wouldn't do for both of us to be irritable. :D Actually, I stopped watching it because of the stress I could feel. It's not a pleasant feeling.

I find exactly that Shirley.... I have to stop discussing or watching the events after the second or 3rd day of any disaster...because I get to the point where I feel mentally exhausted by it, and like you I feel totally stressed

@Shirley Martin , yes it does get to you if you do not at least take a break from it all. Seeing the faces of victims is very hard.
My hubby was watching some of the news tonight , and he had to stop. Was getting choked up . He told me he was sorry, guess he was just a twat. No, you are not ! The magnitude of this massacre only makes it worse. I still would like to know Why he did this, what purpose did it serve to him, to anyone?

Yep - you're right, there's too much going on that consumes you

We haven't watched that much of it, but have followed some. We like to (sort of) know what's happening with the investigation.

Watching some news coverage doesn't stress me out much, most likely because of my few years involved in EMS back in the late 70's. I seen a lot back then. I didn't get stressed out from doing it. It was mainly the hours that I had to work that made me stop doing it.

I have the news on a lot. Stress. I don't know. I've dealt with so much of it in my life.

I won't even get into the stress I've been dealing with at work because I'm sure someone will pop in and say it's not stress. But if the TV and what's on it, is so bad, turn to something else I guess.

Yes it would if I watched it every day, but I have learned how much our News Media "never lets up" on some things they are covering. So I limit the time I will listen to their coverage...for my own peace of mind.

I have been trying to avoid it as much as possible. Mostly, because it's the same news that they keep shelling out to us as breaking news. I am interested, so when they actually report something new, I'll listen but I don't want to dwell on it throughout the day, every day.

I did look at some of the pictures of victims online today until it made my heart ache.

I will watch the “Breaking News” when an occurrence happens, and maybe check the 5:am news thereafter, but I try not to dwell on things. If I let my emotions build from to much exposure to the pain of situations, I find it is easy to loose sight of the good in the world.

What upsets me the most is knowing there is nothing I personally can do to help any of them get past their pain. That is a lonely journey.
