I agree, Patsy. Maisie had an amazing life and I talk with her frequently on another site where we are friends.
I spoke with Maisie today and she said she doesn't visit here often due to the fact that she keeps having to answer questions about WW2. There really is much more to the lady than her war experiences.
For all who interacted with Maisie, she has been quite unwell of late. In and out of the hospital a few times. She is totally bedridden with a disc fracture in her lower back, probably lumbar region and is in much pain. She is now 90yrs. old. I haven't heard from her for a week now and that is odd. I'll send her an email today and try to find out what's up.
Have enjoyed reading these posts, has given me appreciation and respect to those who served in WW2. Those who have gone through this by either been enlisted or enlisted family, how do you go through life after being there, after any war.
Any wars must have been and still is so horrific for those who served, those who we've lost, and those who've returned, for all to have sacrificed to give us safety and freedom. Sadly, through passing, our heros are leaving this world, along with their stories, and heroic measures. On another sad note, our younger generations don't seem to connect with any of this history, and those who made this history.
Update on Maisie: She is back in the hospital. I don't think she will be able to return to this forum, but she sounds perky and hopes to be home this week.
I'll be sure to pass all this along to her Patsy. Will cheer her up for sure. That lady went through so much and now is sadly having a ton of health problems. I was a little younger than she during WWII and on this side of the Atlantic, so while we had our difficulties, we were not running from bombs and fearing for our lives on a daily basis. However, were made well aware of what was facing our allies' children and families and sending our prayers for their safety daily.
I'm thankful I missed WW2, watched a programme last night on the Blitz and I was in a state just watching it Seen items before that covered it but this one last night was dedicated to the Blitz and I was so saddened that an evil B...… could do such an horrendous act not just once, but so many times - still goes on today because sadly there will always be another Hitler
True, Patsy. There were many before him and they are even around today. So far, we've managed to keep them somewhat at bay world wide.
