Wife Has Been Hired!!

So, after 5 years of working for this insurance company thru a temp agency, she now works full-time directly for the insurance company. A couple of weeks ago, the lady she was working for at the company, ask her if she wanted to go with the company full-time and, of course, she said "definitely yes". She had to update her resume', scan and send it (e-mail), with w-2's she has for a few past jobs and get a Background Check done. Finally, this past Monday, everything was accepted and she was hired.

IOW, no more working for the temp agency! She now will get holiday pay (like this Monday for Presidents Day, 18 Vacation Days/PTO, Sick Pay, Vision/Dental Insurance and a nice salary raise. She has never had a salary as high as it is now. She doesn't need the company medical insurance, which is very expensive and very high deductible. I will also now have Vision/Dental as well. The company sent her a company t-shirt, mouse pad and coffee travel container. All with company logo on each. She will also receive a new laptop computer and they will pay to have an old computer/keyboard, that we have, sent back to them. One change that we will have to get use to: her paydays will be every-other week, not weekly like they were with the temp agency.

One of the first things we need to buy now is new iPhone 17 Pro. We'll each get one. Our old iPhone 12 isn't cutting it anymore, and the camera on the iPhone 17 Pro is superb.

They also know that we have plans on moving in May or June, back to northern Colorado.

So, to round all of this out, Happy Birthday, Happy Valentines Day and Happy 25th Wedding Anniversary (next month) to her and us.

I forgot a big main thing, her age. Yes, her age. They hired her knowing that she just turned 78. Other than perhaps Walmart, what company will hire a person that age at all? The biggest problem with hiring someone that age is "health" now or in the future. Then again, she a darn good worker. She makes up the time for any of the medical appointments that I have and goes with me to.

More and more businesses are hiring older retired people. Just like you said about your wife, older people are reliable, dependable, and hard working. We have a work ethic. They will work with older people on doctor visits and such. Most older people already have health insurance so businesses don't need to provide that. My husband gets asked all the time if he wants a job, especially at Home Depot. 😆 We both have gotten asked if we want to work at the court house. We both replied with a big NO. It seems no place can get help anymore.

That is great news @Cody Fousnough. Wonderful she still wants to work at her age and that she can work at home. Also great that you are making plans to move back to Colorado. Are you planning on same town? I hope you can find a place that fills all your needs and you can stay there for years. I was born there in the shadow of Pikes Peak as you might remember. What is the main thing that draws you back there?
