White House releases new healthy Food Pyramid .

The new food pyramid released by Health Secretary Kennedy is focusing on proteins from meat and vegetables, plenty of fiber foods, and much less on grains and junk food is not going to be on it at all.
Kennedy is also talking with organizations like the Heart Organization, about not supporting foods that claim to be heart-healthy, but are really of no benefit for our heart.
By the end of this month, they will also be recommending that cities take fluoride out of drinking water, too. I believe that we are heading for a healthier, and more prosperous America.

He expects a lot of push-back from the food manufacturers. I really don't know what is right, but empty calories don't belong, but carbs such as bread and tortillas have kept mankind alive for millennia, while animal protein and berries were probably our original ancestral foods.
There is always going to be a lot of disagreement on what is the perfect diet for humans. We have healthy people who are vegans recommending that diet, and healthy people who are carnivores, recommending that diet, and people eating all kinds of ways in between that are healthy, or unhealthy.
I think that as long as we are eating REAL food, and not processed foods, we will be healthier, no matter where our choices fall along the line between vegan and carnivores.

I have tried both ways, and in between, and it does not seem to make much difference in how I feel, but I do feel better eating a food that “God created” than one that “man processed”.
But I am glad that we have a better recommendation for Americans to eat healthy foods from both plants and animals.

I, too, have gone both ways, although I have never been vegan, as I believe that to be a terrible diets for humans--just my opinion. I felt great as an ovo-lacto-vegetarian, and did okay as a basic carnivore (almost out of necessity when we lived in the bush). I do remember how wonderful a taste of lettuce was after eating meat and fish for months.

The problem with the original pyramid is it was nothing but a graphical representation of who had the largest lobbying influence.

I've gone meatless for a while (about 6 months) and really pounded down my cholesterol. That was all I could do. But it was interesting feeling satiated rather than being bloated (I'm rediscovering that with my fruit, cheese & salad dinners.) Getting my red meat digestive enzymes back was a painful process.

As long as you have cheese and/or eggs in the diet you are fine and healthy. That is how I once lived. If you are vegan however, you must take supplements to ward off disease and degeneration. I posted on the old SOC about a lecture I listened to by a PhD nutritionist who worked for NASA. He said they researched veganism when the were developing astronaut diets for long-term space travel. They found veganism, while it lead to slightly lower cardiac events, it led to a much higher incidence of cancer. They could not determine definitively why that was, but they suspected it was that vegans had such low fat intake, they could not process the fat-soluble vitamins and other nutrients. He used Linda McCartney and several other fairly famous vegans who all died of cancer. People on diets high in red meat also tend to develop cancer, so I think a diet that includes a wide range of nutrient types may be the best.

Bread used to be the staff of life but in the last 50 years, at leaast, grains have changed along with the glyphosate sprayed on them to help dry them.
Peanut allergies were unheard of when I was a kid.

I've heard of having health issues from eating too much low-fat meats (specifically rabbit) for the vitamin absorption reasons you cite. And I think that a lot of this is compounded by sedentary lifestyles. If you get the exercise, expend the calories and dump the adrenaline as you hunt for the red meat you might be lucky enough to get, it may not be a carcinogenic diet.

It also makes me wonder about past (and some current) cultures whose diet was/is limited to regionally availability. Centralized farms and a complex global distribution system might decrease quality/freshness, but they provide maximum variety. Eating Local when there iss no choice is the mirror image.

Yvonne you're an optimist, which is good. Reminds me of a song. Know what song that is from the 50s or so?

Krystal, so had I.I don't think they care.
I think that not only did they not care, they wanted to keep it there to dumb everyone down. Now that we have a president and a health secretary who actually cares about the health of the people here, we are seeing changes already, and even more will be happening as we go on with this changeover.
Kids will be getting healthier meals in schools, EBT will be having more healthy food allowed and less junk food, so kids should eat better both at school and at home .
Once they announce the removal of fluoride from drinking water later this month, we should start having better water in most US cities.

I hope so, I know J.F.Kennedy Jr, is working on dyes and healthier food in schools too. we have 3 more years of control if we stop losing GOP leaders to vote with Trump on important things.
