Does the absence of a "Like" vote impliy "Dislike" OR "Disagree"? I ask this question because:
    • I may Disagree with the substance of someone's comment but Like the skill & tact that they displayed in presenting a good case, & in not being mean, & in avoiding epithets, etc.
    • I may Agree with the substance of someone's comment but fervently Dislike the bile & rancor with which they said it.
What I would *like* is for the forum to offer TWO distinct choices: Agree & Like. Thus, we would be able to Agree (or abstain from Agreeing) with the substance of a comment while, at the same time. expressing Like (or abstain from Liking) the spirit, tact, & "food for thought" value of the comment.

P.S. I greatly admire (& seek to grow in) the *gift* of disagreeing without being disagreeable.

Yeh, there have been conversations about this subject...well, one conversation that I remember. I wish I could find it, I'd provide a link for you.

People use "Like" for a variety of reasons. And as you said, not only might you disagree with the statement, there are some where folks speak of illnesses. You might "Like" it merely to indicate that you read the comment, but you're not happy the person is infirm.

Some forums have "Like"and "Dislike." Some forums have a broader array of faces indicating a broader array of emotions that the faces we have here. This is a canned product. I doubt we will be making mods to it.

Regarding disagreeing without being disagreeable...much like beauty, there's that "eye of the beholder" thing that you might find challenging. ;)
