What Did You Do Today?

I'm basically nosy and like to hear about what people are up to. This thread is for sharing random stuff about your day for a glimpse into your life.

My days are fairly mundane, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. Today I ran some errands, did a load of laundry, and cooked dinner. I guess they won't be making an action movie about my life. What did you do today?

My homemade cookbooks have been getting a little gnarly looking so I bought new binders, plastic sleeves, and tabs so I can replace the old stuff. Plus, I have also been going through all the recipes and trying to categorize them better. I have all my recipes backed up on my computer, CD, and a memory stick. But if that wasn’t enough, today I ordered a touch screen tablet so I can put nothing but my recipes on so I can pretend to be like “Jane Jettson” with her high tech kitchen. :ROFLMAO:

So far, all I have done is take care of the kitties and now having a wonderful cup of Bobby’s morning pot of coffee. It is 30 F outside and probably a two cup of coffee kind of day, maybe even two and a warm-up ?
Today is my favorite day of the week………..Kroger Day !
That means we get to go out of the house and actually shop in the store, which I look forward to each week. Otherwise, it is just ordering groceries online from Walmart. Bobby hurt his back yesterday, so the chiropractor is also on the to-do list, and his office is really close to Kroger, so that will fit in the schedule just fine.

Good morning, just sitting down with a cup of tea. Started a load of laundry, investigated a sound around my back gate, figure it was either a cat or a raccoon, most likely a cat. I woke up with what I think is a sinus headache because of the pressure. I hope the tea will help with that.

It's suppose to get up to 50 degrees today. If it does I plan to rake all the dirty leaves in the front yard. It just looks awful. That's the most accelerating activity I have planned for today. My goal today is to complete a blanket for my third stair-step granddaughter. This is number 3. My youngest granddaughter hasn't asked for one. She seems quite content with the Cinnamoroll she asks for. What is a Cinnamoroll? It's the new thing a friend of Hello Kitty.

I’m working on doing some laundry today and a little house cleaning. Gathering a few things up to take to one of the Thrift Stores, and taking some old books to donate to the library.

I will also be finishing up with my cookbooks, if I can get my husband to stop looking over my shoulder at the recipes. He says, “I remember this. Can we have that again”? NO! “oh, ok.” “I remember that one too. It was good. Can we have this one sometime again”? NO! They are memory books now, pal. :sneaky:

I have leaves all over the place here too, I'd like to rake them up today if I can stop my back from hurting' favoring pulled leg muscles 'squats' injured my lower back. I keep screaming out scaring Jake, lol.
I'll get the leaves soon I guess.

I stayed up too late, so I didn't get up till 10 this morning. I've been watching the Mad Men series (again) and the night just slips away. I enjoy Mad Men because it transports me back in time; they did a good job of recreating the 1960s in that series.

I need to drive to Dillard's to make a return and I dread it. I used to be so fearless, roaming around Houston to all the malls and stuff. Now I'd rather take a beating than to get on the freeways. People are so crazy these days.

They sure are and now that the north has moved here to N.Florida, its even worse, as if the loco locals weren't bad enough.
Speed limit 35, they want to do 60 and if you don't oblige, they will pull in front of you and slam on brakes, shoot a bird waving out window, or cuss at you when they pass.
Top it off drive a large van and they hate being behind vans.

I have temporary cure for the nutcases though. A good song, a Heineken and a local Cheers type club if no pandemics in that case, its the porch.

I have a whole list of stuff to do today. My wife's birthday is tomorrow and I have yet to find a suitable gift. She at her job at the church, and I have an appointment with the optometrist this afternoon. It is about -10 F. and there is still about 5" of snow on the drive. Hardly enough to worry about, but I will blow it off the drive if I have time this afternoon. Three parties set up for the wife's birthday--one tomorrow, one Friday (the big one) and one perhaps on Sunday as well. Those "zero" years are important to celebrate:)

If you find a low-sugar, grain-free recipe, please post it @John Brunner.
So far the lowest sugar one I've found is 1TB of honey per 2 cups of walnuts. I've not tried it yet. The nuts are in the dehydrator as we speak. I'll post the recipe if it's any good.

The next lowest is 1.5TB honey per cup of macadamias, made with coconut oil. I made those a few days ago. The longer they sit, the better they taste.

It's a long process because I soak the nuts overnight then dehydrate for 24 hours to get rid of the enzyme inhibitors and to start to break down the meat of the nut (less mealy/more crunchy.)

If anyone has a good pumpkin seed recipe, please post it. The only one I've tried is mediocre.

I haven't had Chinese food in a few weeks and am going through MSG withdrawals. I may head into the big city and get my fix, then hit a grocery store. I've always taken legacy roads rather than the interstate highways, wherever I've lived. Charlottesville is a nice 20 mile drive though rural areas with only a couple one traffic light to break up the trip.

Funny side note: My neighbor was born & raised here. We were coming back from a doctor appointment (either his or mine) in the burbs of Richmond...a 30 mile drive, taking the legacy east/west 2 lane road. He told me that when he was a kid and his family would make the trip to Richmond, they took that road and it was all gravel, all the way.

I dead lift around 350# x 3 and let a little ol’ 50# truck battery trash my lower back yesterday, so today…
Whilst Yvonne did some shopping at Krogers I went to the Chiropractor with the hope of getting my back fixed and be my cheery self again.
After that we went to the bank and then home.
I do think Doc Mike did me some good. I’ll know by tomorrow.

Got a question: Why is it that an extremely painful and mind bending backache or toothache suddenly seem to be almost healed up when ya walk into the doctor’s office?
Maybe it’s just me.
