Toxic foods

I purchased a tub of a well known highly regarded ice cream just before Christmas 🎄 and altho I rarely eat ice cream I decided if have a small serving for a change from my usual plain unsweetened yoghurt

First of all I couldn’t get it out of the container …..it was rock hard …so I left it out for 15 mins and it didn’t soften one bit ….so I left it for another 15 mins ( remember it’s hot here )
it softened a little to scoop a bit out …it was discusting …:sick:🤮 tasted like chemicals …..

I posted a photo of it on the Aussie crafty / everyday living forum ….and a lady on there scanned the bar code with an app she has think it’s called YUKO …it came up the chemicals in the foods as toxic / cancer causing chemicals / a danger to children’s growth …ect ect …
So this product is nothing short of a Chemical experiment….:sick:🤮

Armed with that info I decided I’d run it under the very hot kitchen tap water to flush it does the drain …..I ran the very hot water over it for a full 3 mins …and it wouldn’t melt ….it was bubbling …like it had fizz substance in it ……

IMG_1995.jpeg.I had to end up cutting it into chunks with a carving knife ….and flushing it down the toilet 🚽

The bubbles might have been air that was injected into the ice cream. Some cheap brands do that here in the U.S. to make it softer and also use less other ingredients. Apparently it didn't work in your case as it was rock hard. It could also have been bacterial contamination. Bad luck. You could report it to the store where it was purchased or to the state or federal authorities if they monitor such things.

I phoned the company after unsuccessfully trying to add photos on thier “ contact us” form , she refunded my cost if $10 for the 2 Ltr tub of branded “ice cream “ ( I didn’t ask ,she volunteered ) @Don Alaska
She was 100% convinced it had been incorrectly stored and had been allowed to completly thaw …at a store …..( it was all frosted up when we git it out of the freezer at Woolworths )

She said that would have caused …..it to became “ rubbery” to quote her words …..Then she went on to say …oh it’s not ice-cream ..as such ..it’s a frozen 🥶 desert …… What ….!!!!! Sure looked like ice-cream by the description on the pack ….it says reduced fat ice cream, …..not a dairy desert …like she said …
Never mind I got my money back without even asking …..it’s not cheapie ice cream like what we call home brands

I had a bad experience with a brand new 30 oz. jar of Duke's mayonnaise yesterday. I was going to make coleslaw and opened the mayo, put some in a bowl and added my usual stuff... a bit of cider vinegar, a bit of sugar, a pinch of mustard, and a splash of heavy cream. When I tasted the mix for seasoning it had a very weird taste. Kind of greasy and just strange, though it did not smell spoiled.

I checked the cream and it was fine, so it had to be the mayonnaise. The new jar was still sealed when I opened it, and doesn't expire for several months so I have no idea what the deal was, but I tossed it into the trash.

We gotta be careful what we eat now because it sure seems like they put bad stuff in ON PURPOSE trying to hurt people!!
There was recently a recall of a long list (20+) of off-brand cinnamon. They had high levels of lead. Some came from the 3rd world machinery, some from ground pollution, and some was intentionally added to cheaply add weight to the bottle. Dunno if the last reason was to hurt people, or if it was a callous way to increase profit.

Is there a Costco near you? The one near me has real Premium Ice Cream. I t can be pretty hard when you first take it out of the freezer, but set on something like plate or a pan to catch the sweat and it will soften in about 20 minutes or so.

Did you know the largest amount of anything in cheap ice cream is Air, often making up 50% of the volume in a container? If you can get it, this stuff is fabulous.

If you go to a good restaurant (as in not something like McDonnies) and order Pie Ă  la mode (a slice of pie served with ice cream on top) most places I've been to stick it in a microwave for about 10 seconds or so to soften it up. That makes the ice cream start to melt and drip over the pie. I like my ice cream that way, even without any pie. This is also a good way to see how much air is in the ice cream. If half or more of the ice cream you put in is gone when you microwave it for 10 seconds, that means the ice cream has a high air content. You thought you were buying ice cream, but you bought a little ice cream and a lot of Air.

We’d live in a country town 2 hours drive away from our one and only Costco in the city ( Adelaide South Aust ) @Axel Slingerland we do buy goods from Costco when we go to the city, I get frozen blueberries and they stay frozen in out little car fridge till we get home

That is three things I forgot to tell you...
1. When Costco says it guarantees 100% Satisfaction, they mean it. You could even eat it and they would still give you a refund, no questions asked. I always say why, but they have never asked.
2. If this isn't real Ice Cream, I would love to try the real thing.
3. They won't make excuses why the ice cream is cheap, because it's not, and it's worth every penny.

We’ve been a member of Costco since just before it opened ( they had a open day to join / take a look )

Hang on a min and I’ll go check when they opened in South Australia …….:):):) Be right back ….

Costco opened its first and only store in Adelaide at
on Wednesday, November 19, 2014, marking its entry into the South Australian market with a large membership warehouse.
Key Details:
  • Location: Kilburn, Adelaide.
  • Date: November 19, 2014.
  • Features: Included a fuel station and bulk items, becoming a popular destination for members.

Anyway we’ve bought everything from tyres to batteries for our car …..food of course ….I actually buy a 3-4 kg pack of minced beef about every 6-8 months it tastes like beef used to taste ………the only thing I’ve ever returned for a refund was a double plastic clear drinking “ glass” cause it had a crack in it …..

We always get our petrol there …..it’s was $1.48 a Ltr ……everyone else was around the $2 Ltr …..so the membership pice gets us cheap fuel for our car ….which in turn makes it very worthwhile to pay our $60 a year membership …

so I’ve never really had to test out their guarantee as I’ve never had issues in the time we’ve been a member …. @Axel Slingerland

It was only a few months latter ….i actually joined @Ken Anderson seniors only ….. version number One ….so,I’ve been hanging around with most of the members here ..for a long …long time ….
