I am far from being a left wing communist or anything left wing, but I'd like Daylight saving time year round. Downright UnAmerican to get dark at 4 pm unless you live in Alaska.
Move out west my dear! It is approved in Washington and Oregon and only waiting on the corrupt state of California to go into law. It never made sense to have the later hour in the summer. Crazy thing is Arizona will stay on year around old standard time. Don't know why Wa. and Or. have to wait for Ca.'s approval other than our governors are a bunch of spineless cowards.
That's right! If they are going to have the extra evening daylight hour in the summer, only makes sense to continue it in the winter. Dark at 16:00 in the winter is crazy. Maybe we will get it started next fall here in the NW. I am hoping.
We officially start Daylight Savings Time next weekend, and it ends in November. I thought that it used to be about 6 months that we had the time change, like from October through April for standard time and then April-October for DST. Now we have 8 months of DST, and only 4 months of ST. I wish that we could just have DST year around, and I was reading that some states want to do that, and some states want to never have DST. I really look forward to Spring arriving and longer daylight in the evening hours, even if it is only an illusion.
@Yvonne Smith We live 2 miles east of that big, old Colorado River, which separates Nevada from Arizona along their west boundaries. Since Time Zones are really necessary, the line separating Pacific Time from Mountain Time runs smack dab along that stateline. So crossing the river westward bound into NV entails "losing" an hour. BUT ONLY during winter, when their clocks are "normal". We have to be aware that restaurants we frequent in Laughlin, NV may not yet be open for breakfast when we arrive, or the buffet is not yet serving. ONLY during winter. Now, we have NO DST in AZ. So when that magic day coming up arrives, NV clocks go an hour ahead, matching ours, and both states have the same time all summer long! Don't think this fact does not bamboozle tourist and resident alike! Cellphones change their time indicators automatically upon crossing the river! "Ole Man River" does not seem to care about any of this nonsense! Frank
