Simple...I entered the Service later than you because my BSEE in Electrical Engineering wasn't conferred until 1960!

I have had my breakfast Omelette & Coffee/OJ and am now planning the rest of my day. I don't care to participate in the scheduled Bingo--Scrabble-Painting- Movie-Puzzles and will spend my day reading and on my laptop.

I might join just to have a depth of available Scrabble partners. I used to play online, but Scrabble is still copyrighted (thanks to Sonny Bono changing copyright laws so he could personally benefit) and the copyright is aggressively enforced, so you gotta pay to play (even if you only play the computer.)

I can't believe you don't at least participate in that, Lon.

I like Bingo, too. 2 ends of the cerebral spectrum.

What a buzzkill you are. Scrabble and painting are great for fighting off dementia. Do they have pinochle?

I prefer Bridge but most of these folks can't remember cards they play.. Solitaire is a good dementia fighter.

Solitaire came installed on my older computers. It does require some concentration so perhaps that's the key to it's dementia fighting. My head does get a little foggy sometimes.

I used to play a lot of bridge during lunch breaks in high school. Also Hearts, Spades and chess. I bet you could find 3 other players in that place.

Lately I've been playing Spider Solitaire. I have a hard time switching back to traditional solitaire...takes a while to get the mind working that way again.

I never tried bridge. The ladies' group that played it when I was younger was a bit snooty. There is a ladies group at the senior center that plays bridge, but they are all considered affluent members of the community. I am not. I would like to play Texas 42 again but no one around here is interested. I may have to move to Texas. I still have my grandparent's old dominos.

Hearts can become pretty cutthroat at times, especially when an aggressive player shows you he has the Queen of Spades and says he'll lay it on you!
