@Gloria Mitchell I found this place. Noted on several web sites so it seems to be legit and I just did an e mail request. You can do it by mail for 3 dollars. You can do it as a caregiver answering a few questions. It says it could take up to 3 months to make a difference since these manipulators print ahead.

I see from these solicitations how they get people: dear friend, won't you help, it would mean so much on and on. It should be illegal to sell names. It really should.

I won't keep a daily tally to bore everyone with. However there were 32 yesterday, about 19 mailings today. Add that up if you average 25 a day, omitting Sunday and it's 650 pieces of mail in one month.

I have 6 postage paid to go back tomorrow with "unable to donate remove.....etc. I hope in a couple of months there will be some progress.

I actually got a solicitation back stating that the money checked was not provided in the envelope. Of coarse no amount was checked. I guess they missed the part when I wrote "unable to donate, stop mailings......."

Yes, I get it. This one doesn't have the pre-paid envelope so I'm not sending again. Clearly they don't read. I'm assuming someone ripped open the envelope looking for the check. Hopefully this will be the only idiots that do this but I'm not so sure.

I agree with @Gloria Mitchell about this. Probably all of these solicitation companies only look for a check, and if they get any response in writing from a person, they keep sending out the letters.
Even though your stepfather is not dead, this might be the fastest way to stop all of this unwanted mail from coming to his mailbox forever and ever, Kitty. It is something for you to at least consider. Just telling them that there will be no donations right now (unable to donate) leaves them open to believe this is just temporary, and if they keep hounding you, then they will get more money.

@Yvonne Smith I know what you are saying. I don't want to resort to that but, if I have to, it is something to consider. I did stamp a few but now I'm only sending back the ones that have postage paid already. The "no postage needed if sent in the United States" ones. I read online sending those back can help as these organizations have to pay for that return envelope and got no donation.

In a lot of ways I'm at a loss on this. I have over 10 pre-paid just to send back today. And the mail box will be stuffed again. Some of these things are the worst like "Muslims are waiting for bibles to know Christ" I'm like what the...... I'm so sick of looking at this crap and how manipulative these mailings are and I'm pissed at my step father for getting himself into this mess. That I'm trying to clean up.

And my brother doesn't get it. He's like just ignore them. No, I have to go through everything anyway to find the one legit needle like the cable bill. And what am I to do with what probably adds up to over 600 mailings a month.

I am adding "stop all mailings, do not share or sell name" I think I should change "unable" to "will not donate" or "you will get no money from me" Or something harsher.

Thanks for all input and ideas.

@Kitty Carmel... Do not listen to your brother ..it is a big deal.. theives for one thing. Plus all that needs to be shredded.
One other suggestion...talk to your postman or post office. They may have an idea to help.

@Gloria Mitchell Thank you! No my brother doesn't get it. He doesn't have to from 3000 miles away. He denies everything stating he wishes he could help. I call BS! He barked at me "you don't want to take care of our parents" Insisting he offered our stepfather multiple times to move to Virginia, knowing damn well he wouldn't.

I'm almost tempted to stuff a box with those mailings, let him know how many days that is and send it to him since it's no big deal.

I'll look into give.org, not familiar with them. I did sign up for that one site. And talking to the post office is a good idea. Not sure how that can be dealt with since he gets legitimate mail there also. My step father said he cut back on donating but I'm not sure if he will eliminate it. If he doesn't, this will not stop. That I know for sure. He can't haul those heavy bags of paper post a busted hip. Oh wait, no I'm now supposed to do it.

31 solicitations today alone. I went to my PO box today, 3 items for one week.

Maybe dear ole dad needs to contribute to the Kitty Carmel fund;).I can tell this is stressing you out. Your gonna have to lie and or do some sneaky stuff in order for this to stop happening...where he's concerned I fear.

You may be right @Gloria Mitchell I'm going to have to give this some thought.

Having spoke with my brother last week he asked how long our stepdad would be in rehab. I stated probably about a month. His reply "call me in a month" Yeah he's so involved.

I also read you can write "refused return to sender" I may try this on some of these that are obvious political and solicitation ones. Which they mostly are. This would save me the opening, sorting, tearing of the personal information on and on.

Does anyone know if this works? From what I read online, it does get returned.
