Remember Pet Rats ala white mice?

Mama used to tell stories about my grandaddy having a pet white mouse.
The mouse didn't like her father reding newspapers. It would jump om the open page to put the attention back on it.
Did anyone here know someone with a pet mouse?

I had hamsters when I was a kid, and we also had hamsters when my kids were growing up. I like them much better than the white rats, although my daughter had a white rat and she really liked it.
We also had guinea pigs, and they are great little pets, too.

The hamsters are great little escape artists, so we were always losing one and had to hunt for it before it got out and got lost.

Mice, gerbils, hamsters, guinea pigs, birds. snakes, cats, dogs.

We had them all at one time or another. I can't remember a time when we didn't have animals.

I've never had a pet rat or mouse. We did have a hamster when I was a kid. It got away and lived at least another year as a wild rodent in the house. It was no different than a mouse because it got into stuff and wouldn't come to anyone but, because it had been acquired as a pet, no one set traps for it.

Yes, two of my granddaughters have pet rats....six of them. They are adorable, both the girls AND the rats. I do like playing with them when I go over there.

My great-granddaughters have a guinea pig. Frankly, it has no personality as far as I can tell.

When my daughter was young, we had gerbils. They were escape artists and when they'd get out, I'd sic the cat on them. He understood that we didn't eat members of our family and he'd find them and gently bring them to me.
