Re: the “I quit buying lottery tickets”. ( I don’t buy them either.)
But here is what I have found about buying apple products. The people who love Apple devices want to always have the newest version that comes out, for the most part.
At least both of my kids are that way. (So, yes, I am lucky and right there for the hand-me-downs, there is that)
This means that there are always a lot of used apple devices on the market, and they work perfectly well, for a fraction of the price of a new one.
Like Beth mentioned, she still has her Apple Watch Series 6. Those came out in 2020, and now sell for right around $100, much less than a new one, on Amazon, and probably less on eBay.
Bobby still has his old 13” iPads, one from 2015 and one from 2017, and both work fine, although they need to be charged up sooner than the new ones do.
This is maybe comparable to buying an older model Cadillac as opposed to a new Ford Fiesta, even old, the comfort and durability is there.
And at our age, I believe that tracking our health is important. An Apple Watch is much more versatile and helpful than one of those safety medallions that they sell to seniors.
It can work anywhere, and can call 911 even if you fell and passed out and can’t call yourself, if you get one with the fall-detection, which are most of them.
A series 6 should have that and also check your oxygen, even when you are sleeping.
I have said before, I would probably be dead about 10 years ago if my Apple Watch had not been tracking my heart rate and telling me that it was falling down into the 30’s when I was sleeping. It just kept getting slower and slower, but I would never have known , and would have probably just died when it finally went too low at night.
So, yes, I am a big believer of Apple Watch .
(This is probably more of my opinion than you wanted,
@Axel Slingerland, but it is something I believe in a lot.)
