Every now and then, I'll remove a post because of personal attacks. Simply put, personal attacks occur when someone goes beyond disagreeing with what another forum member has said, and denigrates the other forum member instead. It is a type of ad hominem attack, in that it is an attack on the intelligence, character, or some other aspect of the person rather than on the issues at hand. Feel free to disagree with what others might say here, including me, but let's stick to the issues, please. ChangingMinds.Org offers a pretty good explanation of personal attacks.
No...not a secret but not for me to post about. It wasn't a regular member. It happened in this thread... http://www.seniorsonly.club/threads/are-the-libs-winning.10613/
OOoh Politics ..that's why I didn't see it...but as far as I'm concerned politics is kinda open season for arguments, as long as there's no offensive personal attacks...
I stay away from politics because it can get personal. The senior forum that's banned politics is where I found out about here.
I'm the same..I rarely ever get involved in political discussions online, ......but I defend the right for those who wish to discuss it to be able ... just a shame that it gets so personal at times.
The way to keep freinds and family...icksnay the religion and politics discussions. Then again there are Those whom like to stir the pot backwards.
