Electric lawnmower maybe?

I like it ! The day after it arrived, the Monsoons started here, so it has been sitting in Bobby’s shop until today, when we finally didn’t need a rowboat to navigate the back yard.

Bobby brought the Mini-Mower out and mowed part of the back yard.
It starts and runs easily, did a great job of mowing, and the basket of clippings is just the right size for me to carry and add on the top of plants as mulch.
It should be fine to mulch up some of the blackberry clippings, except for the thick brown old vines, and they will make good mulch also.
I am pleased, and think it will do just what i need it to do.

I wrote to my daughter and told her that I had finally decided it was time to use a walker for my gardening, and sent her the picture of the mower. She laughed and liked it !

Yup people worry that hubby still takes care of the snow in the winter. I tell him he just gets behind the snow blower like a walker.:ROFLMAO:
 
Greenworks 60v is what SO ordered last night. Grass is in the front only. Neighbor and his teen offered to cut/trim when our grass guy of eight years pulled out of residential work without notice. All was well. This Spring teenager brought the rate up to $50 and SO agreed but biweekly cutting. Sloppy work, not the whole sidewalk or around two trees trimmed. $35 is the going rate. SO retired recently so this gives him an out without starting a neighborhood tiff.
 
Still eking life out of my old Homelite push mower.

Ordered a pair of compatible lead-acid 12 volt sealed AGM batteries and already put them into the battery case and charged them. Now to figure out where to take the old worn out ones. They sure do weigh a ton for their size.

I ordered a lithium-ion pack and charger to replace that. Much lighter but I got cold feet. I don't want the mower trying to deep-draw power and risk a nasty fire. Tried to cancel the order, but nope. This seems to be intended for an e-bike product range. Rather than return it, I'm using it to suck up extra solar capacity when I charge from panels during the day. I added an XT60 connector to the output pigtail so I can take saved charge and dump it into powerstations via their solar charging ports. My bigger ones all accept the 24 to 26 volts from this LIon pack. The dumb thing is a sealed box with no indicators or even a sheet with detailed power specs. So initial experiments were outdoors with everything spaced apart, monitoring powerstation data carefully. So far so good.
 
We have been using the Mini-Mower a few times now. I should say that Bobby has been using the mower. He has both the mower and the charger in his shop, so I asked him if he could bring it out for me today, so I could mulch up some grass for the new raised garden bed.

He brought out the mower and then mowed around the front yard until we had two nice bags of lawn clippings to put into the container, and then he brought over the bag of garden dirt to put on top.
The grass clipping made a nice thick mulch bed for us to put the dirt on top of. I ordered more dirt from Walmart and will add some more tomorrow morning.
So, I think that Bobby likes my new toy……

Okay, my take on the “mini-mower”.
This time of the year, Yvonne wants me to put the catch bag on the gas mower so she can have the clippings for mulch. In short, the bag makes mowing more cumbersome and as it fills, it gets heavier which makes mowing the lawn that much harder.
Notably, our front lawn has a lot of plants and doing the job of mowing around them is more suited for a weed eater but wait….weed eaters don’t have catch bags ergo there are no clippings for Yvonne’s mulch….until now!!

Yes folks, Yvonne’s new battery powered mini-lawnmower is actually a glorified weed eater on wheels and features a Catch Basket so it can gather the little clippings from around all the plants.
There’s less time stringing a weed eater spool, no mixed gas and no more small plants having nervous breakdowns when they see my big gas powered whacker headed its way.
Alas, many a young plant has had its life shorted by a whirling high speed string of nearly invisible monofilament whilst having to be satisfied that revenge is forthcoming when the operator (me) of that mechanism will have to suffer the wrath of the lady who initially planted the young start.

At the very least, now, the plants are safer, Yvonne can have her clippings using an easier method of retrieval and if it is I who is operating the mini mower, perhaps I might get a mental gold star instead of “you whacked down” my petunia, rose or whatever.

Are you saying this mini-mower is a battery string mower? I was at a friend's place and he was using his gas powered string mower, and it worked really well. It is also safer to use when there is some amount of debris in the yard, like rocks. Plus you can push it around on wheels rather than carry it.

I saw one of those being advertised but no, I should have qualified that Yvonne’s mini mower has a blade albeit light weight.

Come to think of it, my gas weed eater has a couple of blades that I install for larger projects like cutting down bamboo and stuff like that.
