    I was amazed the first time I looked up my full name and found so many with the same.

    Yes. A few years ago I was surprised to find an obituary of a woman with the same name, just a year younger than me, from a funeral home only 2 miles from where I went to high school. My last name is not that common.

    Some of my HS classmates that read obits probably wrote me off. LOL

    I did a few years ago. I was amazed at how many people in NC have the same first and last name as I do. Not to even mention across the country. I just hope none of them are on the FBI's most wanted list. :)

    Yes, it's amazing how many people there are with the same name. My first husband's last name is Smith, so when we were married I had a very common name.

    @Nancy Hart
    My parents were both presumed dead because of an obit and word of mouth.
    One year later my mother died and the following year he died..
    Bad omen ?

    My hubby had a CPAP and oxygen. Someone at the supplying company saw an obituary in the paper with his name. They sent someone to pick up his machines. Boy, were they surprised when he answered the door. :) They apologized all over the place. I called the company and told them that I would let them know when he passed away and to wait for my call. :)

    Not very many with my name exactly. Many have middle names which I don't.

    I do that once in a while just to check what kind of information about me is available. It doesn't take egosurfing, though, to find out how many people there are with exactly the same name. When I got my first ID card and passport in the brave new world it had an (8) printed in the bottom right corner informing me that there are eight people with the same name in the whole country. That is plausible since both my first and my family name are not very common.
    I found that kind of information somewhat ironic because the country I came from, in contrast to the free world, was considered to be a surveillance state but apparently didn't have that information or just didn't share it. :D Well, the explanantion may simply be that the eastern part lacked the necessary IT.
    When I moved house almost five years ago it made me chuckle, though, when some people in the condo building I live in now knew things about me which they had obviously googled once they'd seen my name on the apartment door and mail box. "And you were .... Mr Stearn? Is that right?" ;)

    I just did a search on my full name using Duckduckgo and until roughly 40 items the references were about me or my family. Then it went haywire with absolutely random citations.

    No, I don't use people search. The friends I care about are still a part of my life.

    The amount of information about people is amazing. I have been able to contact a number of old friends and delighted that they are still alive and well.
