Would it be possible for the current thread by Yvonne for iPads watches ect be put under a general heading of COMPUTERS or similar heading …I looked for ages yesterday and could not find the topic …. it’s currently under a do it yourself heading ….never thought to,look there

Thanks of course that’s if it’s ok with the members who’ve already contributed to the very valuable ( to me ) thread ….I'm wanting for find out more about my new watch settings / uses / so it’s a good valuable thread for me … along with the iPad and phone ☎️

And of course my laptop I bought prob close to 16 months ago …. I’ve hardly used 1. Cause I haven’t taken the time out to learn more about its operating system changes and all the others stuff
2 . My hubby is good with computers but instead of letting me learn …he wants to do what I’ve asked about ….not let me do it with him promoting click this click that …

That's what I find good about Apple …they don’t set up something for you …they get ….you to do it

It's tough to not make things so granular that you exacerbate the "I can't find it" problem rather than solving it. But I could see a Group/Sub-Forum for Technology.

Just spit-balling here, but it could be a place for discussions on laptops, watches, AI, Smart TVs, cable/satellite/etc. Of course, once you get this granular, then like-kind information gets fractured across multiple threads with each one being issue-specific (where the same issue is now across multiple threads titled "Help!" or "How Do I...") rather than being aggregated into a single topic thread.

In the meantime, I'll see if I can create a How To Use The Search Function guide and put it in the Help, I'm Lost sub-forum. Reminding members to use that function (rather than visually scanning topics and thread titles) addresses a lot of this, and lets them find their thread/answer that might be located in a non-intuitive spot or whose Thread Title doesn't reflect the direction the conversation eventually went. The Search Function has other benefits, like finding a specific piece of information you remember a specific Member discussing but don't recall where it is. It's a handy tool that folks (including myself sometimes) need to be reminded about.

Please don’t worry about it on my behalf John , it was only a suggestion ….but thanks 🙏 anyway, much appreciated for any assistance you’ve already given me … @John Brunner
Trouble is members ( like me ) sit back and enjoy the forum and don’t understand just how much work gos on behind the scenes
for us to enjoy. :):)

In the meantime, you can always start threads about the devices you are interested in. Last time, we had threads for MacBooks, Chromebooks, and probably Microsoft Windows , so we can have threads about any and all of those. If we have enough threads about computers and tablets, phones, smartwatches, then Ken will probably make a sub-category for them, @Kate Ellery . Also, I would be glad to help you with questions about apple devices, if you want to ask in a pm if it is not suitable for on a thread.

My kids are my Guru’s, and they always make me look and try to find answers before they will help me; so that is how I have learned about my devices…….. lots of searching and watching YouTube videos.

That comment was my long-winded way of reminding folks (and myself) that the forum has a search function that's effective and easy to use. I find myself going through my Alerts looking for a response to a thread in order to find that thread, rather than using the more-effective (and faster) Search function, which can be refined by the member who made a comment or who started a thread.
