Who are your Classic Rock favorites?

Ours is, in part: Bad Company, Styx, Boston, Deep Purple, Van Halen (David Lee Roth era), Heart, ELO, Chicago, ZZ Top, Queen, AC/DC and some others. We have cd's and dvd concerts for most them.

Cody, I can't say that there are any groups that I like all of their songs, or even most of them. I go more by the song, not the group. So I don't care for albums/cd's.

I would listen to the radio, then buy singles. When they quit saying who the artists are on the radio, or even the title of the songs, I lost touch with both. I have searched lyrics online to find out a song I like on the radio, and then bought digital singles to download.

Out of your list I like ELO best. They have a unique sound. Second would probably be Chicago.

Actually, we are the same way. There are only a couple of songs that we like from AC/DC, only one by Joan Jett, only a couple by REO Speedwagon and that list of "only a few songs" goes on. I do know most every thing that ELO, Santana and Chicago done, so we have those groups "Greatest Hits" CD.

There are Seniors that either got tired of that old "loud" rock or never liked it at all. Then again, I don't consider Steppenwolf, Van Halen, AC/DC and groups like them "loud" and/or "hard hitting". To me, groups like Guns & Roses, Poison, Anthrax, Cinderella were "loud", "hard hitting" and really, really Heavy Metal.

Speaking of loud rock, one of my recently discovered, and now favorites, is Creedence Clearwater Revival's, I Put a Spell on You. It's an old song from the Fifties, by Screamin' Jay Hawkins, a man ahead of his time. :D

I go back to the genesis of Rock & Roll, with 1955's "Rock Around The Clock" by Bill Haley and the Comets!

For you Guitarists, Bassists, and Pianists, the original performance was in the key of A.

Hard rock is not my thing. I reckon if I have trouble understanding the lyrics of a song I have no time for it. I am a middle of the road rock/pop man.

Thing is, Bill Haley and the Comets was definitely not Classic Rock! They were "Oldies".
