I don't buy myself a gift at all, but my son does and hands it to me to wrap and mark it as being from me. He never likes what I buy for him, so this is how he does it. My mom was the same way. Kind of takes the fun out of it all, but it is what it is.
My grandchildren all have "wish lists" on Amazon, which is the greatest thing EVER since they all live far away. I just select what I want to send, and Amazon makes it happen. We give our grown children money, and so far that suits all involved.
