I envy you folks who have flowers blooming outside already. I am weary of the cold and snow, although our days are getting longer by almost 6 minutes a day. I do have most of my peppers and tomatoes started indoors, as well as celery, onions and woody herbs. April has our biggest electric bill because of the lights. Wife has quite a few of her flowers started as well.
Hello @Don Alaska. How have you been? Glad to see you here. Everyone else probably already knows that you are, I'm just always late finding out.
I don't have any flowers yet. That stupid winter storm killed almost everything in my yard. Waiting to see if the palm tree recovers or if we'll have to pay to have that thing taken down. The snakes will have to find somewhere else to live. (Every summer we have at least one incident where a high wind will blow a snake out of that palm tree. ) Oh... but the mums all made it; they are coming out green.
A few tulips starting to emerge here. They are generally in bloom by Easter. They give a nice early color along my fence and come up through the various flowering ground covers I have. While I have a similar view of Mt. Hood looking west, the scenery in front of it is very unattractive as compared to the damper more moderate Willamette valley where the tulip farm is located as seen below.
How many feet of snow did you have to shovel through to be able to check for some flowers, @Ken Anderson ?
It's a her named twinkle. Very active when not sleeping. She's the most lovable huggable little puppy.
Today I noticed my dwarf Iris is blooming. Generally it's a toss-up between them and the crocus for who blooms first.
