Anyone Watching the Olympics?

I love the Olympics, winter and summer, but it's not really an amateur competition any more, if it ever was.

I was honored to attend the opening ceremony of the Vancouver 2010 Olympics and some of the events. It's highly unlikely I'll ever have the opportunity to do so again, but at least I can watch it on TV.

Well, it didn't take long for the political bullshit to start. In my opinion, anyone who steps onto the podium and says they are "embarrassed" to represent the USA should be told to step down and immediately disqualified and sent home. I am really sick and tired of this shit.

So I won't be watching another minute of the Olympics. Soon there won't be anything left on TV for me to watch at all.

What the hell!! What is wrong with people! With all of the US faults, we are still the best country in the world to live in.

There are still the old movies, where politics were kept out except for the ones made during WWII, which are pro-America propaganda often.

I won't be watching. Not sure if the Games have lost their luster or if its just me being too old. The politics are nothing new. The 1968 Summer Olympics in Mexico City, with the Black Power salute, was the first such incident that I remember.
We were at the Munich Olympics during the attacks. I still have the Bavarian chevron pattern bandana snacks were sold in.

I watch off & on. I like the winter sports..from speed skating to downhill skiing at 85+MPH. I need to find the Curling schedule. For some reason it appeals to me, and it only seems to run for a few minutes at a time.

And I do think that American who opened his mouth should not have. You don't do that crap...especially on foreign soil. The fact he can do so without fear of his safety upon returning home should make him rethink his position. Besides, what kind of idiot goes to winter sports games and claims he does not like ice?

My husband said some Curling was on yesterday. That is one "sport" I absolutely do not get. Our son-in-law and a bunch of his friends go to some kind of Curling event in Idaho every winter. I think it's just an excuse to get together and party.
Oh, yeah. I can see where beer would definitely enhance the accuracy...for a brief window.

Craig Ferguson said a bunch of drunken Scots got together and invented two games--curling and golf. Both are just an excuse to drink.

I've been watching pretty much every day. I'm sick of Snoop. Way to degrade the event by making a rapper an "Honorary Coach" in the international stage.

My husband has been watching every day, too. It seems like every time I walk through the den, Curling is on. When did Curling become such a thing?? It's like competitive floor waxing or something.
