I noticed that too I really don't know how he did that but I know that there used to be colored ribbons for typewriters years ago maybe that's how it's done.
 
I just looked at his website and found an article about him. He was an art student, and a class had students investigate how artists have used technology over time. He came upon the story of an artist (Paul Smith) who had cerebral palsy, and whose parents bought him a typewriter since he was unable to hold pencils, brushes, etc. Smith (born in the early 1900s) made typewriter art.

I read that Cook incorporates words into some of his art.

Fascinating stuff. I would never have guessed it to be from a typewriter. I got lots of questions regarding technique, shading, etc.
 
I once saw a Madonna (the saint, not the singer) portrait done on the side of a brick building, completely out of beer and soda bottle caps. For the life of me, I can't remember exactly where it was but it might have been somewhere in New Mexico.

I was out at a pow wow in the '90s there was a booth with a Mexican fellow who painted crucifixions and religious subjects on a peso. They were done really well I purchased a few and gave them out, I kept one for myself but lost it. I've gone back to the pow wow many times looking for him to purchase some more but never found him.
