Yellowstone Rodeo not PRCA or PBR endorsed Gramps the Bullfighter

That is Yellowstone, folks! Sure there are special walking trails but any visitors has to remember dangerous wild animals are on the loose and walking or being out in the open may not be as safe as it looks. It isn't about violating the rules, it is about common sense. I don't care if the bull...

    PRCA Rodeo

I might remind all that Cody specifically titled this thread PRCA rodeo. So if you have documented evidence of a PRCA rodeo that allows any abuse to any animal, then please post it here with all the information, because PRCA and also PBA are very serious and will investigate any documented claim...

    What Are You Doing Today?

No plans today other than just old age survival. I was loving the pants I bought off Poshmark. I thought I looked rather snazzy in them, but comments from friends have made me reconsider. They are like the old pedal pushers the girls wore in the movie Grease. High waisted, tight fit, and...

Yellowstone Rodeo not PRCA or PBR endorsed Gramps the Bullfighter

It is a grandpa and his granddaughter. Yes, good question why they are out on foot with bison around when numerous warning signs tell them to stay in their vehicle.

    What Are You Doing Today?

Nothing going on here today! Two small loads of laundry, a walk, and a nap. Still healing from nerve muscle back attack. I made myself a roast beef and hot cheddar with horseradish, sandwich and it was great. :sneaky:

Two things in your favor Buck. First you stayed still, posing no threat. His sniff confirmed you weren't a threat. Second, it wasn't mating season or he might have charged anyway. Once on a trip thru North Yellowstone, I encountered a bison herd and stopped and let them go by. The bull banged my...

    Gonna make some wood planks

That is the same way I use to make guitar side bindings, but I did by hand and on a smaller scale. Just a 10 mm thick board on edge, in a wood vise, and a sharp plane set to cut 1 mm thick strips. It took some practice to make a 30" continuous swipe and hold the plane level and firm. That would...

Read the signs grandpa, you dumb :poop:! STAY in your Vehicle! How many signs do they have to put up in Yellowstone before people get the message? I mean the signs even have pictures of angry bison with warnings understood in every language. We can't blame lack of common sense on the youth...

    PRCA Rodeo

True that a few rodeo events are based ranching skills, but these days, as I said before, there is little resemblance in actual practice. A ranch where rodeo stock are bred and trained, differs vastly from a cow and calf beef operation. Many cattle ranches these days, don't even have horses and...

    PRCA Rodeo

Well Cody, you missed my point that life running a cattle ranch for beef production, rather than rodeo stock is totally opposite in how you work cattle. An example would be the PRCA Hall of Fame team roper, Mike Beers. He lived not far from me at one time and his dad had a cattle ranch and he...

Gone but not forgotten SOC Members

It is very sad when names are added to this thread. Marie will be missed. I hope in time that @Jake Smith will post her original SOC profile photo, the one in shorts on the beach. I like that photo and it was always how I see her.

    Marie Mallory Memorial thread

Thanks for post and beautiful photo @Jake Smith. I read it earlier, but had to get tears cleared to type. Please take care of yourself and in time let us know how you are doing. My best to you and your family.

    Gonna make some wood planks

One sale of large trees I bought, I used a metal detector, ran it over the logs before milling, and did find a few small spikes. I hit one once and it destroyed my chain, bar, and sprocket, before breaking the chain. I wore chaps and never regretted it.

    PRCA Rodeo

I have but not for sport. It was done to hold an animal for treatment. Usually on leased range far away from any corrals. Pasture roping is done by some cowboy churches, to play cowboy, but no rancher would use stock raised for beef for roping. Being a ranch cowboy is a totally different state...

    PRCA Rodeo

That is a beautiful Pinto! Judging by her ears and general appearance, she would have made a great cow horse. One of my great aunts had a Pinto that was the best cow horse ever for roundup and sorting. I would ride her with loose reins that really worried some folks until they saw her do her...

    Flooded!

Before the last two post get reported and the posters get their hands slapped, I am reminding myself this thread is about flooding, so I will zip any more comments about rodeo.
