    Colonoscopies

No surprise that medical establishments exaggerate the benefits of colonoscopies. Medicine is a business. I've had several dentists recommend dental implants, telling me the success rate is 98%, when the fact is, dental implants have the highest failure rate of any medical procedure - more so...

    Colonoscopies

It is common for individuals to assume a medical screening could have saved someone's life. But it is more likely that your long-time friend's cancer wouldn't have been detected until it was advanced, because (as I posted previously), Less than 1% to 2% of routine screening colonoscopies result...

Tire Pressure Monitoring System aka TPMS

The "TPMS" doesn't stand for Tire Pressure Monitoring System. It's actually "Temporal Lobe Monitoring System." :)

    That's What She Said

Reminded me of a group of patients with different appearance-changing conditions on a talk show - Tourette's, Vitiligo, Alopecia, etc. One guy with Vitilligo on his hands was paying for his lunch at a fast-food place & the cashier was afraid to touch his money, fearing it was contagious. After...

    Standard Transmissions

Sometimes, us oldies also don't get it. I was at the self-service cashier at Home Depot yesterday. When I stuck my card in the slot, it said, "Error Read." A young employee came & put the card on the screen - I guess to read that silver chip & it worked. I said, "Thanks, us old people don't...

    What Are You Doing Today?

The only thing I did today was bring new batteries to a disabled friend for her TV remote.

"Dodge City?" Honestly, I didn't know there was a real Dodge City (besides the one Marshall Dillon worked in). :)

What "song" are you listening to now?

Just heard this one on my playlist this evening: Beautiful but sad. Paul McCartney wrote "Little Willow"for Ringo's first wife who died of cancer at 48.

Thanks for the link. That answered questions I had - especially why I don't feel any gears shifting. I didn't think much of those paddle shifters but when I learned how to use them, I don't want any car without them.

    Standard Transmissions

My Accord hybrid has no gearshift; just buttons to push. I don't know what kind of transmission it has but there is no feeling of any gears shifting.

I also liked manuals. My last one was a 1991 Honda Accord. Before that, my 1971 Corolla was a 4 speed. But it had an emission control that kept the engine revving up while shifting, which took most of the fun out of it. Luckily, an unnamed mechanic disabled it for me. I don't know if manual...

    What Are You Doing Today?

One of my favorite movie lines was in "Magnum force." Clint said, "Nothing wrong with shooting, as long as the right people get shot."

    Power Brakes, Power Steering

My first two cars did not have power brakes or steering - a Toyota Corolla & an Austin America. In my 20's, I had an old Benz restored. It did have power steering but it quit soon after I bought it. I drove it for several months anyway before fixing it. It wasn't too bad except when I parked.

Do You Have A Bucket List? What's Done? - What's left?

I never got an instructor credential. But when I worked in retail firearms for 7 years, I took many new customers to the range & provided instruction at no charge. Many of them could barely afford a decent firearm.

    Shopping--What did you buy?

These batteries are designed as weapon lights - either attached to the weapon or handheld. They have a 10-year life so a firearm kept for emergencies & not used often will still have usable light.
