Are you now making, or have you already, made any preparations in anticipation of it? Or is it something that you've even given any thought to? I know that scientists and astronomers, people who are supposed to know about such things, believe that the actual demise of the earth is a long ways off from now, in the distant future. But what about things like climate change or the possibility of nuclear war? Astronomers don't stay abreast of much outside their field of expertise, I'd think. Same with scientists too. I don't personally feel threatened so much but I didn't see the recent pandemic coming either. I think of TV commercials for an insurance company that uses the slogan, "Life comes at you, fast!" which seems to definitely be a truism. So please, if you care to, share your views. I'd appreciate it though if we could discuss this topic without bringing religion or politics into the discussion. I just want to know if anyone ever thinks about just how our days may be numbered but only from a logical or theoretical view. The sun has risen every day since I was born but I do believe that one day, it may not. Or if it does, maybe there won't be an earth for it to shine upon. It could happen, maybe!? Or could it?

    Thanks in advance!

I suppose I just assume that the end of the world means everything would be wiped out. No need to pack suitcases when there's no place to go. :D

Indeed the end of the world is that much closer every moment of every day. I don't really think about it, it is what it is. That's why it's important to enjoy the moment. :)

The end of our life is the end of the world for us as individuals. The sun will incinerate the earth in 4.5 billion years. Life on earth will be long gone before that.

I’m retired and I don’t pay a lot of attention to the clock.

In truth, among my workouts I do have some stretching to do but I’m not so locked in to it that I’m ready to bend over and kiss my rear end goodbye.
For that, I will need more time and on a positive note, I do not believe that my personal world is ending any time soon (I hope) but if it does then it is what it is.

From one perspective, the end of a world happens every time a culture reaches enlightenment. But as a cultural phenomenon that usually doesn't happen all at once, and certainly not overnight, so it's rarely experienced en masse. It's more of a rolling, incremental achievement.

Exceptions being things like the eruption of volcanoes that wipe out towns like Herculaneum and Pompeii, various tsunamis, nuclear annihilation of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, etc.

I don't think there is any way to prepare for what history might call mass extinction events. And it's likely we're in an end of a world as we know it event right now with the climate crisis. Some people believe we are and have worked to reduce their carbon footprint. I figure I'll be dead before life on this planet becomes truly unsustainable, but that we're past the point of no return and as a planet prefer to continue our ignorance. My kids will likely see major upheavals in life as they know it before their lives end.

I'm just waiting. I figure when it's time, God will sound the alarm.

That would only happen if Michigan would beat the Buckeyes in a football game (last time was 2011)

Of all the issues to deal with in daily life, this is least of my worries. And for all you bible thumpers, did not the Lord not say ( I can not quote ) he would return before man annihilated him self ?
A speculation on my part - no offense.

Not really Gloria but Jesus did say that even the Angels know not…..Matt. 24:36

Which is probably why I do not worry myself over it.
My job is to be ready for it, not to determine when things as we know them are going to end.

I’ve heard of these, you must be speaking of the 90° angles, they are always right ones.

Thanks for the head’s up Jack. Dunno if it’s spell check or me typing too fast but a mistake when quoting Biblical terminology is a big thing with me.
    Thanks again……
