    No, is not "like saying...." since a fetus is not a person.......and the school children are.

    I am not "pro-abortion" but I am totally pro-choice. Furthermore, until a man is capable of carrying a baby to term they should have ABSOLUTELY NO INPUT as to whether a woman has an abortion. (A father could plead his case with the mother, but ultimately that choice is HERS.)

    Having said that, I do not agree with late-term abortion where a viable baby is killed. In my mind, abortion is acceptable in early stages where the embryo is not distinguishable as a human being.

    It might be that years ago, a local politician said to Polly Roinstein -head of the Women Coalition for Legal Abortion /Westchester county, NY- : "We could care less about abortion / no abortion.........the fact is we don't want to give the women so much power."

    But what would that have to do with sending a woman to jail
    for a miscarriage ?

    That seems at first and second and third glance to be unconnected.

    I guess you didn't read the comments from other posters on that particular matter.

    There are societies that today -2021- jail women for "natural abortions".

    IAW, it was a side note.

    We have discussed this before. I haven't seen anything that made me change my mind.

    I love people who argue a subject w/o having been a witness to the pain and suffering of the victim. Anyway, as we say in my other country "Why to use a cannon to kill a fly?"

    @Beth Gallagher

    The "bleeding hearts" contest this against your description by pointing out fetuses (feti?) are seen to smile while still in the womb, and males (the lucky ones!) are often seen to get erections.

    @Jeff Elohim

    Must be so if successive scrutinies produce the same result.

    Agree. I believe that each of us should have absolute control of what happens to our own body... whether it's carrying a baby or having a vaccine. Give the individual the right to decide for themselves and if they have to "pay" in the hereafter then so be it. Forcing a woman to have a child she doesn't want is a recipe for disaster for the both of them.

    I think that it is up to the woman her Dr. and her conscience. While a man may have an opinion on the subject I don't think men should have a say in laws concerning abortion. I think that restricted access to birth control is another issue we face. We need to prevent pregnancies rather than fix the problem after the fact. We need to make it so that the need for abortions continues to decline. Our choices begin when we choose to have sex. Then our next choice is about birth control. Use it consistently, correctly and just plain use it every time. We will be the ones to face the consequences should we fail in doing so.
    We know how babies are made and we now have more ways than ever to prevent it. In an old post from the Guttmacher Institute which I can't find on their new web site any longer only 5% of unintended pregnancies not including from rape were from contraceptive failure. The other 95% was from not using contraception, using it inconsistently and/or using it incorrectly. In the latest info 51% of those who had an abortion had used a contraceptive method in the month they became pregnant. 59% of those who had abortions had at least 1 birth. These problems are fixable and on us.
    Those most obtaining abortions are white.
    I am against using abortion as a birth control method. With freedom comes responsibility.

    IMHO not even the doctor has a say....unless the abortion could be dangerous for the woman; this goes case by case.
    The man has not say on this issue because is not his body the one suffering the pregnancy / delivery neither the changes a woman endures during the entire process.........and beyond.
    BTW, I deeply resent the doctors asking the father if he agrees with his wife aborting their fetus / having her Fallopian tubes tied / cut.

    I was around before Griswold v. Connecticut (1965) and Roe v. Wade (1973). I can't tell you the fear in me even after I was married and contraception was legalized where I lived. I believe that my body is my own to do with as I please and that includes taking my own life. For those who believe it's biblical that there should be no abortion, I'm here to respectfully question that belief. The source (below) might be controversial, but the cited biblical verses about abortion aren't:

    Those who you show are babies...........out of the womb. A fetus is not a baby and, personally, the only one I care for is the woman.

    I don't need to guess.......I know about where they "rested" during nine months. See, if the boys could carry the fetus during those same nine months they would have a say on this business........but they don't.
    Don't come to me with "the life of a baby" because is only a fetus.
    You an talk until hell frizzes over but it won't make any difference to me. My body is mine and you boys has not say.

    As far as the MD having a say there may be medical conditions to consider. The MD would not be making the choice but would be giving information pertient to that particular woman so that she can make an informed decision aobut what she wants to do. Such as terminating the pregnancy when the fetus is badly deformed and has no hope of survival or quality of life.
    As to the father having a say this is a dicey situation. Ultimately it is the womans choice however in a committed relationship it can involve input from the father. I think in relationships there should and would be conversations surrounding such decisions. My husband and I discussed birth control options and decided that a vasectomy would be the best strategy for us. There is more involved than just the procedure. There are ramifications for the family as a whole.
