I always liked the version by Boots Raldolph (another Army Band musician), probably because it's the one I first heard.

I have a few of Boots Randolph albums I enjoy his Yakety sax, however I like the original hit version for this song.

Iv'e always loved those two songs played over each other like that.

"Moonglow" was the first song I learned to ply on our Magnus chord organ.

I had one exactly like that, @John Brunner ! I was probably in the mid-70’s when I got it, and I just loved it ! I could carry it places, so I took it to our little church, and i would play the choruses that the church kids all loved to sing, and all of us would happily sing until we went through the whole book of kid’s choruses.

I would have been embarrassed to try and play it for adults, but with the little kids, they didn’t notice (or care) if i missed a note here and there, and that we were all singing together was all that mattered to any of us.

Since you've now got this rattling around inside of my brain, I figured I'd share the lyrics.

    Once I was alone
    So lonely and then
    You came, out of nowhere
Like the sun up from the hills

    Cold, cold was the wind
    Warm, warm were your lips
Out there, on that ski trail
Where your kiss filled me with thrills

A weekend in Canada, a change of scene
Was the most I bargained for
And then I discovered you and in your eyes
I found the love that I couldn't ignore

    Down, down came the sun
Fast, fast, fast, beat my heart
I knew when the sun set
From that day, we'd never ever part

Hugo Winterhalter had the instrumental hit, Andy Williams had the vocal.

Because we've been discussing UFOs on another thread I thought we'd have a little fun so from 1956
