    What's for supper?

I got no idea what I'm gonna make. Start with a salad. I know I have some leftover Domino's pizza in the freezer...somewhere in there.

How's the Weather Where You Are?

There are scattered (splotchy) thunderstorms going through. A couple of cells formed over my immediate area, but they're only as wide as about 1/5 of the county and they're traveling through fast. So my neighbor's garden briefly got watered,. but this won't put a dent in the regional drought...

She thinks there are only 2 branches to the Federal government...and she sits in the halls of Congress. She's stupid.

July 2026: Cyclospora outbreak in 17 states, no recalls yet

Officials have found the source of the bad Taco Bell iceberg lettuce to be a supplier in Mexico (Taylor Farms.) This company has been the source of contaminated lettuce before, and says that none of the bagged lettuces they ship to the U.S. for retail sale are involved in the current outbreak...

It's being drug in that general direction. There is a Newsmax interview with AOC (a potential Presidential candidate) who claims that the US Senate was "founded on, uh, you know, Jim Crow." (Jim Crow came along 174 years after the Senate.)

At the debate, Webb also said “I believe they called it pork bellying by cutting out the pork belly from all the bills, sure that would save a lot of money as well…”

You mean letting people have public parades solely to display their sexuality? No one needs to be in the closet, but we don't need sex-themed parades.

House Passes Bill to Make Daylight Savings Time Permanent

Yeh, I'm not sure farmers were ever really affected by this. Being "out of synch" with others for an hour in the winter months would only make a difference if they wanted to call the feed store or a mechanic or something like that. And these days I gotta think most farms are owned by Big Agra...

12 year old Californian children now have rights under HIPPA. This is the state that shuts parents out from knowing what their children "identify as" in school. Can you see where this is going?

House Passes Bill to Make Daylight Savings Time Permanent

Politicians from coastal states (Florida) with strong tourist economies are pushing to make it permanent for the reasons you stated.

Foraging for Food in the Wild, or in the Back Yard

We used to get morels when I was a kid in Indiana. My mother would put them up in some sort of clear liquid in a canning jar, but I have no idea what it was. Wild onions (ramps) are popular out in this part of the country. My father used to make birch beer and my mother has made dandelion...

How's the Weather Where You Are?

I walked out at 3PM to run errands and smelled smoke. The entire area is hazy from the Canadian fires. We're 100 miles south of DC. This is crazy...although we have had smoke from California wildfires.

July 2026: Cyclospora outbreak in 17 states, no recalls yet

I used to grow a lot of different varieties of sprouts. The salad spinner is great for getting rid of the hulls. I fill the spinner with water (leaving the basket in), dump in the sprouts, and then work them by hand and let the hulls fall through the basket into the bowl of the spinner. Pull...
