I'm back. :) I went with my daughter... *I* got fresh peaches and fresh strawberries.... *she* emptied her wallet with two collector item Navajo pieces bought from a Navajo lady who didn't really like to haggle but did to a certain degree because so much money was at stake. And she got a tigers eye chunk mined in Africa. And a purse. Sheesh

It's been years since we did a flea market, but I think my suggestion about going may have created a monster. Already she's talking about a porcelain cup and saucer made in France that she had her eye on. I'll guess she'll be making a return trip next week.. maybe I'll get another invitation to join her. :D

Sounds like great mother/daughter time. I used to like these type of things but now I just don't want anything coming into this house...I want it all out. :)

Yeah, me too... that's why I just bought fruit that will have no evidence left in a few days. :D The stuff she got is really nice, but I won't be the one dusting it or making space for it! And yes, it was a great morning!

I want everything out, but I think I will make an exception for the cute little purse I saw at the flea market. :) I just think it is so nice! However, what I really like about it, is that it would be at least 30 to 50 dollars at some mainstream retailer. Another thing I liked there was a sweater made from Alpaca wool! I thought it was really pretty affordable too. As it gets closer to the Fall, I will be wanting something like that.

We used to go to the flea market often in my home town. It was at the drive in theatre and was composed of dealers and regular people who went there instead of having a garage sale.

I still thrift shop. Our PAWS is great and I drive by another one so I stop in almost weekly. I try to buy books, clothes, utilitarian items. I'm much more selective about what I buy now. They opened a large Goodwill here but I prefer our small volunteer run shops.

It is fun though just to look.

Gee, an Indian souvenir items store in the flea market. Surely you will empty your wallet because collector's items are truly expensive even in flea markets.

I had been to the Sunday market yesterday in hunt for some of my favorite fruits. But there were no imported sugar apple from Thailand, only the native type which are small and not so nice to eat because the white flesh is not think unlike the imported variety. I was also looking for some cassava but there was none. All I was able to buy were vegetables for our lunch. Maybe next week there would be more fruits.

I made a visit to the flea market today. I had specific items to hunt for so I was on a mission. I didn't find the main thing which was a baby gate to keep my close to one year old granddaughter off the stairs.

As I was reading the other posts it brought to mind how a lot of the vendors were selling things very cheap to get things out of their homes and garages. I had passed by one vendor who was selling two boxes of cork flooring I was interested but didn't ask about the price because I figured it would be more than I had on me. After making my rounds I stopped back and was just looking at the flooring and the guy approached me and said, "You can have both boxes for $5.00. We were going to lay them in our laundry room but laid ceramic tile instead and they have been sitting in our garage for two years." Of course, I bought them.
