I am quite lost here, & don't know if this is in the right thread or not but am quite sorry if not. I lived on a farm before now. Husband died about 5 years ago so am now in assisted living. This is an important tool to me but will be on the games most of the time.
Was on another forum (games)for years but had some computer issues so here I am!
Again, sorry if I'm in the wrong spot.
One question! Would someone please tell me how to do an avatar!
 
First, I'd like to welcome both of you to the forum. Please don't be overly concerned about putting things in the right places and so on; while we appreciate things being in the right places, we'd rather you feel comfortable and unafraid to post or to try things.

First, have the image you want to use for an Avatar on your computer, and know where it is. It should be at least 400x400 pixels; larger is okay, but the software will shrink it to fit anyway, so there's no need for really large ones. Since the entire image may not be shown, it's best to have a square image.

Click on your member name, near the upper right of the page.

A selection box will pop up under it.

Just below "Your account" and "Bookmarks," you will see your default avatar.

If you place your cursor over that, you will see an option for "Edit." Click that.

Then click "Choose File" and navigate to the image you want to use on your computer.

Click to select that image, and click "Upload."

Then click "Save."

Alternatively, you can message me and simply drag and drop the image in the message, and I'll do it for you, including any cropping or sizing that might be necessary. It only takes a moment, and it's not a bother.
 
Welcome to the forum.
To change the avatar, click your name in the blue space at top right.
Then click on the current avatar to replace it with a photo of your choice.
Here's a website <-- where you can edit photos to be any size that you wish.

@Liz Adams - The photo you choose will be fine, as long as it isn't too small,
or paste it in a message and Ken will edit it for you. :)

There's no need for that. Just drag and drop it in a message to me or, for that matter, drag and drop it into a post in this thread, and I'll do it for you. Pixels just refer to the size of the image, but you don't need to know that if you'd like me to do it.
 
Thank you Ken. I don't even know what you mean by "drag". And what do I drag ?
I feel so silly.
I'm useless with technical things. I'm just on a phone, don't have a computer.
It's ok. I'm happy with the circle.
 
If you can think of something you'd like to use as an avatar, just tell me what you'd like, and I'll find or make it for you. Or don't worry about it for now; just join in on whatever you'd like. No pressure.

LOL , me too. Kept wondering where this thread had gone !!!
Never mind, I'm sure we'll get the hang of it soon.
Although in my case I won't hold my breath haha.
