In another forum, the reason most cited was asking a lady when she was expecting, when, in fact, she wasn't.

With me, I sometimes go into woolgathering daydreaming mode and stare at someone without realizing it. And then I suddenly realize it. The object of my staring looks at me angrily, or like I'm some kinda nut. It happens only in a social setting when everyone is standing around yakking. Embarrassing as hell.

Having people know who I'm related to.

(Or since you seem to enjoy grammar: Having people know to whom I am related.)

Running into someone I used to work with or an old neighbor or...……..and not being able to remember their names. I'd like to introduce them to the Other Half, but it would be, "I'd like you to meet....um......ummmm…..what is your name again?" Embarrassing.

    That's a good one.

Of course, it only stinks when they remember us.

I don't get embarrassed, but do like to debate certain things. LOL

Has anyone been embarrassed for someone who should be embarrassed? Singers who think they can sing, someone making a speech who is too nervous to speak, professional sports people who make really stupid mistakes etc.
I mean, if a kid is having a piano recital and forgets what note goes where or in a play and his pants fall down, there Has to be a bit of embarrassment for him or her.
It’s like our hearts are reaching out to them and saying, yeah, I kinda know what you’re feeling right about now.

In short, yeah, the most embarrassing times I have had is when I’m feeling sorry for and embarrassed for other people.

It’s only embarrassing when there’s 2 people in the lift. Otherwise, everyone is suspect and if I look at someone else, that’s the guilty party, not me.

    Part of that is empathy.
The other part is our loss of patience the 3rd or 5th time something like that happens.

That can apply to our little universe right here on this forum, huh? The nature of the person has not changed, we just have accumulated too much experience.

Being with someone who makes a scene in public because they are not agreeded with. Such as speaking to a manager of a store and becoming belligerent.

But, but, but, that's a guy thing, besides females aren't biologically capable of doing that.

That's what one of them told me.

Try going a full day without ending a sentence with a preposition and see how stiff and formal it feels.

I believe this rule is gonna go the way of "How doest thou this fine morn?" (if it hasn't already.)
