    Let them make what they want.

    Better yet, the Dems can stop playing this divisive crap.

    And back to Harriet Tubman, I have no problem with that. Frankly, I never look at the pictures on my currency and couldn't care less as long as it's "legal tender." They can put Wiley Coyote on there for all I care.

    @Peter Renfro , @Hoot Crawford , @Al Amoling

    As I'm sure you know, @Ken Anderson prefers to keep threads here on topic. He is gracious enough to provide this board for us to use at his expense. Will you all please be respectful enough to follow his wishes? I suggest that @Ken Anderson or @Yvonne Smith move these offensive off topic threads to another thread, Actually, I'd recommend the trash can.

    Edit to add: off topic posts have been removed to a different thread by a moderator.

    ^^This^^ I may spend $10 or so of paper currency in a week. All the rest is digital, and i don't think that I am unusual in this regard.

    boat4.JPG Honest reply NO never heard of her I just looked to see who it was and still never heard or her, the currency change to me would not be to my liking here, my school name was changed- statues of my history of my family's heritage were removed, certain movies and tv shows I watched as a youth now removed, enough is enough and no I never heard, knew of or anything about her. My description would be a Texas Red Neck proud of my country the was it was not now like all people other than those who harm, steal and hurt others and very out spoken of them, darn sure not a liberal in any since of the word and usually attempt to avoid them we just do mix well nor do I have any liberal friends knew one once that made an impact on me as he was extremely anti gun and hunting yet a butcher who advertised on his store front "We process wild game" Ex military and law enforcement here, just plain rural country folks. FYI sir renfro most of my closest friends are not white Americans we have been this way along time. They for the most part are in some type of law enforcement or doctors.

    I don’t remember ever learning about Harriet Tubman in school, either, and this thread is maybe the first time that I have heard her name. I don’t have a problem with putting her picture on our money, and after reading about who she was, it seems like she did a lot of good for this country at that time.

    I have been trying to remember what black people we did learn about in school, but it was not a big thing to me at that time, what color skin someone had, so I would have been no more likely to remember someone just because of their race, instead of what they did.

    As I have mentioned before, I grew up in northern Idaho, not far from the Canadian border, and never saw an actual colored person until I was into my teenage years, and then it was in Spokane , and not in my home town.
    Because of the weather (maybe), we just did not have anyone besides white people and a few Indians in North Idaho.

    I remember reading that they have been talking about all new money , with different designs and colors, so maybe this is a start towards that.

    Of course you're trying to be a smart ass; you can't ever make a point without an attempt to insult someone. You'd probably clutch your pearls to learn that most Americans of any color have no idea who Harriet Tubman was. I never learned about her in school (though I learned a lot about other black historical figures such as Booker T. Washington, Rosa Parks, George Washington Carver, etc). I'm sure she was a great lady, and as I already said, I don't care whose picture they put on currency.

    Wow, I really didn't realize that she wasn't a national figure? I never remember not knowing about her. She was right there with Washington ,Franklin, Lincoln and all of the founders and notables.
    Maybe because I have lived on the path of the underground railroad the cradle of Womens Suffrage my entire life.
    No I was not trying to be a wise ass. Learning this really suprises me.

    Grew up in Southern Ohio along the Ohio river, and local legend was that the old, old house next door was a station on the underground railroad. No way to know if that was true or not. Either way, I never heard of Ms Tubman until it was proposed that we put her picture on the $20 bill.

    I know who Harriet Tubman but that's because I read. I don't think she was ever mentioned in any school that I attended.

    lol - I suspect we all read, but that doesn't mean we read the same things. I never came across Ms Tubman in any of the economic or accounting things I read. :) And again, whose picture is on our money is of no concern to me.
