We went down to the beach last weekend. The waves were bigger than usual because of the hurricane. There were some people out surfing and I took videos of them. I'd like to show them here but we can't do that. I believe we would have to put them on YouTube then post them here. I don't have a YouTube account but I would consider getting one.

My question is: Do any of you have YouTube accounts? How difficult is it to get one? How about privacy? Can you set it so that the videos will only be seen by people you choose? Any info will be appreciated.

It's pretty easy. The help section for creating an account is here.

How close do you live to the beach @Shirley Martin?

@Babs Hunt , about 130 - 150 miles, depending on where and which way you go.

That's alot closer to the beach than we are. Three of my sisters are in Florida real close to the beaches and often I wish I could move down there too. But I love my daughters and grandkids more than the beach so I'm staying put unless they move to the beach too. :)

I'd like to live at the beach, too, except for two things...... money and congestion. It costs a lot to live there and it's so congested that you can hardly get around in traffic nowadays.

My sisters don't live at or on the beach but they are within 20-30 minutes of it. One in Pensacola and two in Fort Walton Beach. I'm sure the traffic is very congested in season but it's never been to bad when I'm gone to visit them. And since they don't live right on the beach their homes didn't cost much more than homes in other places.

I still would worry about a hurricane hitting sooner or later though...but I sure like to go and spend time there when I can.

Ken, I went there and filled out the registration. When I got to the Terms and Conditions part, I read it. If you accept their Terms and Conditions, you agree to let them collect your personal information. That includes where you browse, what you search for, what you buy online and other personal information. They will share it with their business partners. I decided not to accept their terms. I know there is no such thing as online privacy but I won't willingly give mine up. If I was going to put a lot of videos online, I would consider it. But, for only one or two videos, no. Y'all will just have to get by without them. :D

I live within 40 minutes of the coast here ..my nearest big beach area is only 30 miles away but it's a busy motorway so it takes about 40 minutes to get there, my husband was born and raised there ...in the whole of the Uk there's no-one lives further than 70 miles from the coast...

My house in Southern Spain is just 10 minutes drive from several huge beaches

You tube is entertaining, the videos amusing but many are just rubbish, like connecting wires to a sparking plug to produce free electricity that drives a small electric motor; which in fact has an internal battery. In general I love it.

I had forgotten all about this thread. Do any of you ever post something then forget about it? I have been here 3 ½ years and have no idea of some of the things I have posted. I wonder if there is some way we can look back at our own posts? That might be an interesting way to pass a long, cold winter day. :D Or not. :p

Anywho, I still don't have a YouTube account. Still don't want them snooping. For instance, I just ordered ten Mirrolure 17MR fish baits from TackleDirect, the World's Premier Fishing Outfitter. I wouldn't want YouTube spreading that info all over the Internet. :D

To see all of your old posts, @Shirley Martin ,first go to your main profile page, and it will say recent activity, and then posts. Clicking that opens up the last page of posts that you have made, but at the bottom, it will say show ALL posts, and also show ALL threads.
You can just scroll back through the pages to see what you have posted and what threads you have started.
Another way, if you are looking for posts on a particular topic, then search for that word, and choose your name as the poster, and it will show you any posts you have written in any specific topic.
