Howdy...I'm looking for an alternative to CNN. What networks to you folks prefer for unbiased reporting? Hal
I look at all of them...they all take sides in my opinion even Fox. If there is a fact that is reported on all the sites than that's what I believe. You really can't just look at one news site...they are all biased. Some moreso than others. CNN is more liberal, Fox is more conservative. I actually like the Daily Mail the best ...supposed to be a "rag" but they seem to get things right and also quickly.
None of them are unbiased in my opinion. I used to like the News of the Public Broadcasting Channel but during the Election coverage, etc. they showed their bias against Trump which really surprised me since I had always found them to be fair minded to both sides of issues before this.
None of them are unbiased. Fox is biased toward the neoconservative viewpoint, while the others are inclined toward the liberal viewpoint, with some of them serving as arms of the progressive wing of the Democrat Party. I have not actually watched it yet because I keep forgetting to look for it, but The Real News Network might be worth looking at. My chief reason for pessimism on that is that the Huffington Post likes it, so I am thinking it might lean liberal too. For political stuff, I prefer C-Span as it just airs whatever is happening but, of course, C-Span's scope is limited.
Our casinos here have a table dedicated to just the way the media portrays "news"; it's called Craps shooting. Frank
The media is owned by different large corporations. Wouldn’t you expect what they put on the air to favor their business interests? I suppose we must assume everything is slanted one way or the other. I always hated the British press, the way they hassle everyone in order to get a photo. You could hardly blame some of their public figures if they turned to a reporter or cameraman and knocked h*ll out of them; teach them some manners, if that were possible. It seems our media is getting closer to their British associates, not necessary with their cameras but their vocals, going beyond reporting the news. I get my news on the computer and I read newspapers around the world. I think some of the foreign news sources report our news better than we do ourselves. I guess we have to take everything with a grain of salt. I occasionally watch the evening news with my wife who watches ABC Evening News. So far as TV news I suppose I consider Fox and MSNBC to be on opposite poles so far was conservative and liberal views. Everything else (ABC, CBS, NBC, PBS) somewhere on the liberal side.
Wow .. I must be missing something when I turn the news on... unless perhaps there is a guest on the news, do not know where you all claim the stations are biased. I watch NBC majority of the time. Then CBS. I do not like anyone on our local Channel 4 Fox news. Channel eight ABC, is okay but not my favorite . Each station reports different things, so it just depends on my frame of mine.
Excellent point. They often do, particularly when it's something that they don't have a stake in. Years ago, when we first went into Iraq and Afghanistan, our news media was often days behind, probably because they were either not being allowed to report the news when it happened or because they just didn't have it. At that time, the Chinese government-owned English-language news in China reported accurate news of what was going on in this war that they were not involved in, and often days before it came out in the American media. I don't remember what the situation was now, but the Chinese news had reported something that the US Army was about to do, and our daughter, who was a sergeant in the Army at the time, said they were wrong about it. Two days later, she called to tell us that the news had been right. Of course, I wouldn't turn to the Chinese government news service for all of my news.
