I stopped eating sliced white bread 65 years ago, preferring wheat bread instead.

My wife bought a loaf of this wheat bread a few weeks ago, and I was overwhelmed by its taste, color, and texture. It's like angel food cake! Thick, tasty and so good to eat that any sandwich filler would be improved by enclosing it between a couple slices of this wonderful bread!

    It costs $3 per loaf.

The Earl of Sandwich would have been pleased!

Chrissy, we ain't got no Trader Joe's or Safeway up here in the High Desert.

It sounds like it must be a good bread too!

Hal (These Melon Samplers are good too...Watermelon, Cantaloupe, and Honeydew Melon.)

I've got 2 of those fruit samplers in my fridge now..Mix of 3 types of melon, sliced apples and black grapes..

We have so many types of bread here..I like wholemeal bread..but it just doesn't taste the same as it once did...

When I was growing up in the 60's, we had an aunt and uncle who lived in Toronto Canada , and every few years they'd come home to Scotland to visit , and they'd pig out on the bread. They said that Canadian bread had more of the consistency of cake ... Of course that was 50 years ago...

Von's is Safeway. It's called Von's here in Fresno also but I just call it Safeway on the forum because it's better known.

That's the bread I have also @Chrissy Cross Except I have the sprouted multigrain. I know it's the Alvarado brand at Trader Joe's so they have a good seller there. I'll be picking up a loaf tomorrow when I go to TJ's.

I have never gotten used to some of this wheat bread or maybe wheat bread in general. I buy one with flax seed but keep going back to Rainbow white bread for sandwishes and good taste. I know it is just waiting to turn to sugar and is not healthy. I guess I'm as healthy as I'm gonna get in this lifetime.

We quit white bread more than 30 years ago. I usually buy any of several brands of 100% whole wheat bread and also rye bread.

Bobby’s favorite bread is Dave’s Killer Bread. It costs over $4 per loaf, and the cheapest place to get it is at Sam’s club, where it is less than $7 for a 2-pack. We usually only get this once a month when we go to Sam’s, and the rest of the month, I either buy bread from Kroger or Aldi’s , but I always get him the whole wheat bread, and with flax seeds .
Dave’s bread comes in several styles, but the one that Bobby prefers is called Good Seed, and it has lots of fiber and seeds in it as well as made from whole wheat.

Normally I buy Mrs Bairds white whole grain bread ...$2.78 most places.I have to make a lot of sandwhiches so use this the most. Personally I favor specialty breads...foccia...Italian... Broiche ..etc.

I'm with Sheldon, but in addition to Whole Wheat and Rye, I also like Sourdough, Pumpernickle, and Potato Bread.

One of my favorite sandwiches is 3 or 4 cloves of Garlic diced up finely between slices of Russian or Jewish Rye.

I stay away from White bread as though it were exposed to Anthrax.
