Thought I'd pass on my 'journey' to work and back since returning to the Full-Time fold.
It's pretty much the same as when I was part-time, just added more days.

Leave the house at 5:45 a.m. ( walking ) and head to the start of the park.

After the park, it's a nice walk though residential neighhood, cross the pedestrian bridge
across the freeway and finish at a main road to Downtown.

That part of the journey is 1.5 miles. ( See map below )

I'll jump on the express bus for the last 6 miles which takes me in to Downtown and
    1 block from the hotel.

I spend this time reading a book on my tablet or watching a preloaded movie.

Rain or shine, cold or hot, I do the route.
I rarely get an uber or lyft, but I'm only human.

Heading home after a physical day can be hard, but once I start the path gets easier.

( side note: discovered a tree in the park with a family of squirrels that enjoy the 'treats'
I carry in my backback for them. I always have a bag of nuts or seeds for them and I stop
and they come over, standing tall. Nice way to finish the walk. )

So, most days I walk a total of 3 miles to and from work.

Haven't gained any weight since I started this about 3 years ago.:)

I don't know if I could brave the walk to and from work, especially a full day but you are getting good exercise!

Yep great exercise as long as it's a nice dry day... but I think if I had walked a mile and a half then travelled on public transport, and ditto on the return after a full working day I would be shattered... nothing would have got done at home when I got back.. but good for you, it sounds like you're really enjoying it Tim

Sounds like you enjoy your trip to work and back home again...and you certainly are getting some exercise along the way as well as noticing things going on around you. :)

This kind of goes along with Ken's thread about 'Diminished Physical Capacity'.

We talked about getting another car for me since I get free parking Downtown at work,
but those 15 miles I walk each week seems to be keeping me in shape.

I'm lucky that the last operation on my knee worked out great.
The only meds I take is one low dose aspirin daily just to be on the safe side of 'ticker' problems.

As long as I can keep moving, I'll keep it up.
