    Down from where I work, they finished renovating the F.W. Woolworth 5 and 10 cent store.
    It's now a restaurant and live music venue.

    On February 13th, 1960, students led a 'sit In' at this lunch counter and asked for service.
    They were turned away and arrested.

    The owners have reconstructed the inside, keeping to the original as much as possible.

    When I first arrived in Nashville, this building was a 'Dollar General' store.

    It is truly a beautiful building inside and out now.

    That is awesome, @Tim Burr ! I remember shopping at the Woolworth store in Spokane when I went there with my mother. Sometimes, we ate ate their lunch counter, but more often, we had lunch at the nearby Newberry’s store, which was a department store very similar to Woolworth.
    Christmas shopping was my most favorite, and all of the large department stores in Spokane had such beautiful Christmas displayed in all of the windows.
    We often spent well over an hour just walking around downtown and admiring all of those beautiful displays.

    This is the Newberry store in Spokane where we used to go for shopping and lunch. As far as I know it is still there; but it has been many years since i was in downtown Spokane, so it might all be gone now, too.

    Enjoy seeing an old building put back to it's former glory.

    A while back I shared some pictures of the renovation happening with the Noel Hotel
    down the street from my work place.

    Built in 1930, it was an Art Deco styled luxury hotel.
    It is once again a hotel ( after years of being a bank ).
    Called the 'Noelle', it has a lot of charm from the past.

    Some recent pictures I took one morning after it reopened.

    @Patsy Faye
    Try looking up the still-standing Art-Deco buildings in Shamrock, Texas. Across the street from our motel we always stay at, I believe it's an old gas station/repair garage. I have no pictures.
