    Not to say that men don't like chocolate, but I think it's an established fact that women are far more likely to crave chocolate than men are. Why is that?

    I like chocolate, but I prefer the dark chocolate or at least the semi-sweet chocolate, and not very much of it. I couldn't imagine why anyone would like chocolate-flavoring in their coffee, but my wife does.

    I understand, of course, that there are likely women who don't much care for chocolate, and that there are men who can't get enough of it but, on a whole, I think women like chocolate more than men do. Why?

    I'm one of those women that doesn't care or crave chocolate. I used to like it but over the years Ive lost my love of it.

    I like desserts...just not chocolate ones...I'll eat it if that's the only choice in a birthday cake for someone but can live without it and do.

    Part of it has to do with the magnesium, if I remember right. I will have to look it up again; but I remember reading about this. It mostly affects younger women, because of menstrual cycle; but by th time we are done with that, we probably already have that craving permanently ingrained.
    I love chocolate in my coffee, and I use baking cocoa since it has the chocolate flavor and none of the sugar that regular chocolate usually has in it.

    Because it makes them sweeter, or perhaps makes them think they are sweeter due to it. Of course, when it comes to men, they could hardly BE any sweeter, thus why a need to become more sweet?

    If I remember correctly, it raises the L-dopa level in the brain in women. There is something that has a similar effect on men, but it is much more rare, and doesn't (reportedly) taste as good. I think the male equivalent is Velvet Bean. Both compounds work for both genders, but chocolate is supposed to be better for women, and Velvet Bean for men. L-dope increases, then androgen and estrogen follow.

    @Don Alaska
    My Dad was diagnosed with Parkinson's about 1967. Few meds were then available. Dr. got a special approval from some bureaucrat to allow trial of a new drug, L-Dopa. My Dad took it, and it seemed his symptoms worsened instead of diminishing. I believed then, as I still do now, that he did NOT have Parkinson's. Of all the similar maladies mimicing it, I suspect he had PSP, Progressive Supranuclear Palsy. Neither of those two can be positively identified until the patient is dead, via some kind of big brain biopsy.

    Who cares to know, after your loved-one is dead? Carve him up some more to benefit, who? Only the "practitioners", who practice daily.

    Maybe it has to do with aging and the accompanying hormonal changes....

    My Mother was a true chocoholic - the first thing she asked for when I was delivered, was chocolate - not me :p
    She remained a chocoholic all her life
