I have been hearing about VPN and did not think much about it except curiosity. As living in the Dominican Republic I found trying to see somethings like PBS videos they tell me that I can not watch them because I am not in the US. I like my children to use the PBS kids for education. So I looked around for a VPN just for that and found a free one that puts me in the US so my kids can watch videos from PBS kids. An other interesting thing happened I was never bothered with advertising on YT [youtube] not Having an IP in the US the amount of advertising on YT has exploded. Does anyone else use a VPN and how do you find it?
I use VPN a lot when traveling in our motorhome and using public wifi. Seldom have any use for it at home. The free ones work fine for my purposes.
@Beth Gallagher After reading your your report above, I activated my vpn on a seven day free trial. Otherwise it cost me $3.89/month. I wouldn't know how to search for a free one. @Martin Alonzo
@Martin Alonzo - I find that Ad Block Plus (on Firefox) removes most of the ads from Youtube. Are you using an ad blocker?
Beth the ads are right in the videos. I got away from F Fox and went to Pale moon which is almost the same. My free VPN is from proton I also have e-mail with them
I once used a vpn for work when I was accessing confidential sites, but am thinking about re-instating it for when we travel, as @Beth Gallagher does.
Hmmmm.....My apple IPad comes with it. Sometimes it tells me to turn it on and other times it just sits back and waits for whatever it waits for.
