"Chinese food has a bad reputation in the UK. The rice-heavy meals and fatty meat dishes are thought to lead straight to obesity and heart disease. But properly prepared, says Chinese food expert Lorraine Clissold, the very opposite is true: the Chinese way of eating is healthy and fulfilling, fights illness and prolongs life".

"She also insists, in her book Why the Chinese Don't Count Calories, that a real Chinese diet won't make you fat, and that the rising levels of obesity observable in China are in fact caused by sugary, overprocessed Western food. Here are some of her Chinese dietary secrets – and the verdict of two Western nutrition experts, Patrick Holford and Ian Marber".

There is a strong influence of Chinese in our culinary side, in fact, our noodles called pancit is of Chinese origin and until now pancit is still being served during celebrations. The Chinese used to have the best and most popular restaurants in the country. Ask any senior about food and they would more likely say Chinese food. Our parents and grandparents surely love the so called lauriat (not sure of the spelling) - it is the coterie of dishes in a Chinese restaurant that starts with the cold cuts and dimsum to the entrees and up to dessert. A standard lauriat has 12 courses. Unfortunately, some other foreign restaurants are now more popular than the Chinese eateries. Japanese and Korean food have a tinge of class so the youngsters prefer those food than the Chinese dishes of yore.
