Movies and TV seem to think music is required in EVERY scene. It didn't used to be that way. It often messes with the conversations. It is sometimes blaring and aggravating.
Maybe I'm just old, but dialogue and settings should usually stand by themselves without a constant over whelming sound track. Look how effective sound over works when done properly a la Psycho (shower) and Jaws (shark imminent) and Rocky mounting the steps.
Sound should be used to enhance if needed, not to distract.

I agree. The cacophony of sound can be distracting.

    So put on some Sinatra.

    Or Nelson Eddy

    Or Johnny Dankworth

    Or George Formby.

They could also cut back on the explosions. Once you've seen one car blown to bits, you've pretty much seen them all.

I love the music in stores especially Trader Joe's...always has some good 60's and 70's music playing...always in a good mood in that store!

And i thought it was just me.
i remember when actors had to project their voices but they hardly bother nowadays because they know the sound-technicians will crank up the " atmospheric " music.
Perhaps that's why so many hollywood actors can't wait to tread the boards again.
At least in a theater you can hear the dialogue and not just count the special effects.
