What I'e read is that 97% of clothing shoes,handbags and the like are NOT made in the USA and won't be for competitive reasons. Ivanka Trumps business apparently doesn't even investigate for fair employment practices.
True, but what are the competitive reasons? Cheap labor and much fewer regulations. Our deficit in trade is entirely in USDollars. Our trading partners should exchange those USDollars for their native currencies. This would raise the value of native currencies v the USDollar and balance out the disparities of competition and regulations. However, instead of exchanging, they are buying USDollar denominated assets, such as debt, property, etc., which maintains the status quo and impairs any balancing of currencies. Chronic debt is the chief reason for our trade deficits.
