Doggone, I just trimmed my hair this afternoon. I'll fish it out of the waste basket. I wonder if goat hair would work? I've got a whole bucket full of that.

We had a flying squirrel for a short time.
They're cuter when they're on the ground.

We had a large white rabbit for many years (Snowball).

I had a flying squirrel for a short time too. Found it in the front yard in town. I think a cat had been playing with it. I made a cage out of a roll of hardware cloth and kept it in the house for a week or so.

I hardly ever saw it. It only came out at night, after you went to bed and turned out all the lights. Then you could hear it running around. I made it a wood house and attached it to a tree in the woods. Never saw it again. They are cute with the big eyes.

    @Pam Sellers:

On the positive side, at least the grass won't grow. It's beginning to wilt here already.

Duct tape does not stick well in 96 degree temps. New (metal) light fixture. Only $6 at Lowes.

I found this in a medicine cabinet yesterday. It was very useful for installing the light fixture. (Long story, and, no, I didn't use it to strip wires.)

    Engraved on one side:

    GEO.W.KORN RAZOR MFG.CO.
    LITTLE VALLEY.N.Y.U.S.A.

    On the other side:. Ace-High

I tracked down its origin last night.... just for fun. :)

George W. Korn Razor Manufacturing Company 1890-1925
Little Valley, Cattaraugus County, New York

"Meeting coincidentally while traveling, J.B.F. Champlin befriended German immigrant George W. Korn, who had invented an automatically-opening knife in 1883 and had a factory in Chicago, IL. Champlin convinced Korn to relocate to Little Valley, NY, so in 1900, the George W. Korn Razor Manufacturing Company opened alongside the railroad tracks, with Cattaraugus Cutlery’s second factory soon standing beside. There Korn’s famous safety razor would be built, ... until Korn’s death in 1919 and the company’s ultimate demise in 1925."

Little Valley is about 220 miles, as the crow flies, from the area where my grandfather lived in West Virginia. This little razor probably started its journey there by train.

    I could not find a picture of George Korn. :( :p ;)

    Thursday 5/30/19

AC has been getting gradually worse at the mobile home, not putting out cold enough air. Called an HVAC man who lives down the road this time. He showed up within 30 minutes! Sometimes you get lucky. Said there is a small leak somewhere, and just added freon. He said it may last 5 years; it may not. If the leak is in the "coil," he estimated $1700.

The roofer claims he sent me an estimate over email long ago. Said he'd send it again. Haven't got it yet. Something seems fishy. I'll give him 'til Monday night. HVAC man could not recommend a roofer.

    Sunday 6/2/19

Besides the usual, all I did was cut some limbs that were scraping against the barn roof. Not enough ambition to do a good job. They are not touching now ... at least for a while.

The blackberries are coming out. If we don't get some rain soon, they will be all seed and no juice. Everything is drying up and the heat has made it worse. Not a real good chance of rain for a week, just hit or miss afternoon showers.

Wild blackberries make you work very hard for a pie, and they don't all get ripe at the same time.

How mine would look.

    Two things today:
    .

Received a letter from the IRS
"We're please to tell you that the information you provided resolved the tax issue in question..."

Your 2017 Form 1040 inquiry is closed.
    Amount due: $0.00
    .

Heavy rains out in the country here last night and this morning.

No leaks in the barn roof so far.

(Maybe the blackberries will be edible after all ) :D
