We just found out my husband does NOT have prostrate cancer! Thank you God. And thanks to everyone who prayed and wished the best for us in this.
That is seriously GOOD news, @Babs Hunt, and I am sure that the pizza celebration is in order ! Do they know what was causing the problem with his prostate, since it (thankfully) was not cancer ? Besides the thyroid, the prostate uses the most iodine on a man, just like the breasts do on a woman; and iodine deficiency is something that is almost epidemic here in the United States, and in many other places where people do not get enough of it. Dr. David Brownstein has talks about that on youtube, as well as on his webpage if you are interested in checking this out.
He wasn't having any problems with his prostrate. When he went for his Welcome to Medicare Primary Care visit they do a physical, take blood work, etc. When the blood work came back it showed his PSA levels were a few points over the norms. Since his brother has stage 4 prostrate cancer our Doctor felt he should be checked out by a Urologist. So we made our appointment and the Urologist examined his prostrate, etc. and didn't feel anything abnormal but because his brother had prostrate cancer the Urologist felt a biopsy was in order. And just to make sure we felt that was a good idea too. At my husband's age there are more cases of prostrate cancer and since his PSA was abnormal it was best to biopsy and make sure things were normal. I'm thrilled we don't have this to be concerned about anymore.
