The Jungle Book You’re probably familiar with the story, by Rudyard Kipling, and you may have seen some of the previous animated movies, about a boy raised in the jungle by animals. This, however, is a combination of live-action version and CGI and, while it’s not something I thought I’d like, I do. The CGI is done very well, and it’s a... well, it’s a nice movie. I didn’t even like the book when I was a kid, and the previous animated versions were cartoonish, but this is good, and it even includes effective drama - and the funny parts are funny. Bill Murray plays the voice of the bear. Yeah, the animals talk. It’s meant for kids, obviously, but I wouldn’t let that stop me. It’s on Netflix, by the way.
Thanks for the info Ken - loved the original one and we are keen to see this version having seen clips
Sorry Ken the video isn't available to view in this country. I enjoyed the original film when I was a kid tho'..
It's been done a few times, but this was the only one I was interested in seeing. Even then, I had expected to back out of it after a few minutes, but I liked it.
Yeah, I've seen different versions...not my favorite movie but with grandkids you see a lot of them. Some I really enjoyed though, Ive said this before but I think they add a little humor sometimes for the adults that have to sit there because it's above the children's heads for sure....which is a smart move.
Oh I loved the songs Chrissy, like 'ooo be doo, I wanna be like you oo' oh yea man - gone, solid gone
I also like the one with the animals...can't remember the name of it...there's been a few of them. They go to NY, Africa...there's a zebra and a hippo....what is that movie called. I always have a time recalling the name...want to call it zootopia but it's not. My memory is so bad with names of movies. Edit: Madagascar....you should have seen my question for googling it, lol
Took your advice and watched 'Jungle Book'. Stunning visual movie. Enjoyed it. I probably will view it again, just for the effects. I like Kipling's short stories about British Imperialism and most of his poems. Like a few others, had to memorize 'IF' sometime in my school years. Before I purchased a copy for myself of 'A Man Who Would Be King', I would check it out every once in awhile from our local library in Nebraska. One time, when I was talking to the person checking me out, I mentioned that this copy had the 'left Sauwastika' on the facing leaf. She looked and you would have thought she was going to have a stroke. She said she would have to hold the book till her boss came in. I explained about the 'left and right' difference, but no go. They removed the book from circulation. Pity when people are so 'over-reactive'. This is also the library, that when I put a request for an interlibrary loan for the book 'The Blind Watchmaker' by Dawkins, the lady at the desk lean forward and quietly said, " You know he's an ATHEIST..." I smiled and said " Yes, thank you ". Small town, protecting me from myself. Anyway, thanks for the suggestion on the movie.
