"Trafalgar Square in London has a plinth, or platform, on each of its four corners. Three of them have sculptures of decorated military officers: Henry Havelock, Charles James Napier, and King George IV. The Fourth Plinth, built in 1841, remained unused for more than 150 years." The Royal Society of Arts developed the Fourth Plinth Project in 1998, and has commissioned exhibits for the Fourth Plinth, to celebrate all walks of modern life. Most of the pieces are given 12-18 months on display. The 2013 display was a five meter high sculpture of a blue cockerel, called Hahn/Cock, created by Katharina Fritsch. The 2016 exhibit was called Really Good, by artist David Shrigley. "The End, by artist Heather Phillipson, represents exuberance and unease and is scheduled to go on display in 2020."
Ugh - I don't like any of them, especially the last one What is the world coming too They should have David Attenborough up there !
How about this one? 'The Invisible Enemy Should Not Exist' by Michael Rakowitz (current). Not so bad.
I like them all Nancy ...can't say I've really noticed them tbh, as residents rather than tourists we tend not to look up at the monuments and statues
The U S has its own "unique" statues." I liked Arkansas, Idaho, Hawaii, Iowa and New Hampshire's. https://bestlifeonline.com/ugliest-statues/
Yes, we have one here in town I've grown rather fond of over the years. It's called "Split" by Andrew Crawford.
Maybe "Lightning Strike'. Or maybe 'Strike lightening/Split'. Think I would prefer the tree in the background with the sun shining on it's trunk, all silvery like with a small picket fence around it. Then you could call it scrub. Just kidding, I really don't have it takes to be an artist or a namer of things artist create.
