There are times when tourists are friendly in Vegas. A few weeks ago by chance one struck up a conversation with me while I was playing video poker. This was an older woman probably in her late 60's or early 70's. Like most I was in the zone paying attention to what was being dealt. Noticing how I chose what to hold she asked if I was lucky choosing the way I do. I told her I like to think I do but I'm a realist and understand casinos aren't able to stay in business by everyone winning. She laughed and nodded in agreement. Quiet for a few minutes she started up again asking do I visit Vegas often. I told her I used to and decided when I retired I thought retiring in Vegas was an ideal choice. Warm and lots to do. Didn't think a retirement community was the right choice since age has a way of taking people at a high rate in retirement communities & I thought that was depressing. That seemed to satisfy her curiosity for a few minutes. Then she said that the shirt I had on was really nice. Then asked if it was a team shirt because the colors. I told her most think it's for the Seattle Seahawks and the 07 was for the quarterback, but no it was a retirement gift from MI6 the special unit I retired from in the UK. That impressed her. I asked her if she was familiar with MI6. She said no, so I told her the James Bond 007 series was based on what we did. Surprised she said Really ? Yes and the truth is, the stories were based on fact. Then I told her that the 07 on my retirement shirt was to remind me that I could still drink & gambol but losing one of the 0's meant I could no longer shoot anyone. She was quiet then gave me a sideways glance as I got up to leave.
