This Sunday is Super Bowl 50, Feb.7 at 4:30 EST (they changed it from 3:30) on CBS in the San Francisco Bay Area (Santa Clara) between the Carolina Panthers and the Denver Broncos! So let's all have a Super Bowl Party!

Post your favorite commercials, halftime entertainment, and oh yeah
thoughts and opinions on the game! :D

Bring Beer, Sweet Tea (from the Carolinas), food, and munchies if you want!

Not really my sport, but one thing intrigues me. I thought they always used Roman numerals for the Super Bowl, so why 50 rather than L? Perhaps L was just too short?

I was wonder that too, Tom, but I think you might be right. "L" all by itself loses the Roman Numeral feel and would cause confusion.

Bonnie, YAY...Thanks for posting a fun quiz/game to get this party rolling!

Per the NFL.com website : "The NFL announced Wednesday that it will be called Super Bowl 50, rather than Super Bowl L. This will be the firstSuper Bowl in over 40 years to not use Roman numerals. The league revealed that news, in addition to the official logos for the game on Wednesday.. This will only be a one-time, one-year change away from using Roman numerals."

Interesting, Bonnie. And I don't think I've ever done so poorly on a quiz before :D. But it was FUN!
I only got 7 right out of 23…I can usually GUESS better than that!
It just goes to show how ineffective the multi-million dollar commercials were for me!

I'm just glad I'm leaving the area this week instead of next week, traffic is going to be horrible around here.

The weather will also be nice, I looked ahead. After being rainy and chilly the past week by Sunday it will be lower 70's.

I don't watch it though, especially with these 2 teams. I could care less.

    Joe, haha

Chrissy, truth be known, I don't watch much football either . But I'm all for any excuse to have a party and can rally at at a moments notice ;) Since I'm from NCarolina and my daughter has her roots set in Denver, I thought I should rally this time. My daughter's into it. I was just going to do Super Bowl Commercials but decided to open it up and see if there is any interest….I'm not expecting many takers but we'll see what happens.

My sister lives in Colorado and 2 nieces live in Denver but don't have any preference in this game.

The Broncos have won enough and the Panthers none so far.....am I right?

Right. They lost to the New England Patriots, Superbowl 2004, but haven't been in any other Super Bowls. Guess I'l go with the Denver Broncos this time lol.

Oh my goodness! Well I used to watch it, but not for a few years now... BUT I'd love to come to a Super Bowl party with ya'll... I'm really good with party food, so I'll bring... chili, nachos, and cheesecake... Oh, and I have a great recipe for Meatball Sliders.

Wonder if I can talk @Krissttina Isobe into bringing some of those bacon wrapped scallops?

If I can't get through @Lara Moss 's door without having a team to root for, my past experience was that I always loved the Broncos (to the horror of my friends with being in the state of the Steelers... well hey!)

What they will be wearing for the game ...like below,
Broncos will be in white jerseys, Panthers in Blue ... if anyone cares .:D

The biggest story line would be Peyton going out with a win, but Cam Newton probably doesn't care about that....

Fun Mari!! Welcome to the party and your food sounds amazing! I'll make Ice Tea to wash it all down!

Okay, to balance it out, I'm staying with my own state, Carolina Panthers it is. I always like the underdog anyway. and I like the pretty Carolina Blue color

Bonnie, Thanks for the update Bonnie…I like the BLUE for Carolina…it's all about fashion, isn't it?

Cody, relax, I'm with you….Go Carolina Panthers! Except I think their logo is scary. I wish they'd change it to to this kitty…

Actually the jersey itself looks mostly black I think (like that picture above). The trim is blue .. fashion expert that I am. :D
<<< my kitty cat supports the Panthers.

We went to a local Ale House (where people drink beer/ale and there is numerous TV's) for the Playoff game between Denver and Pittsburgh. Talking about a DULL time! Jacksonville, Fl. sure isn't a Denver Bronco fan area. See a number of Steeler there, but they were quiet as well. It was like sitting in a Funeral Home! Only two "active people in the place were wife and I. Left, went home at half-time and watched the rest of the game. Had more fun at home and definitely cost less.

For the Super Bowl, looks like we will just stay at home, have munchies and Bud Light on hand and enjoy watching the game. I'm so extremely lucky, because my wife knows a LOT about NFL and loves watching the games. Years ago, nobody could've got me to watch an NFL game. Then started watching the Cowboys/Troy Aikman, Green Bay/Brett Favre and some other "Old Timers/now Hall of Famers" play. Got completely hooked on it.

Hehehee Now @Lara Moss , that kitty wouldn't scare the timidest (is that even a word???) little mousie... how could it intimidate a whole football team of incredible hunks of the male species?! :p

I'm glad you saw the intended humor :D. Notice the remake of the frightening panther was someone who calls himself, "kissing susie kolber" so we couldn't expect much compromise there ;)

So here is where the party is. I was smelling a party brewing. For those of us that do not drink, I'll bring the coffee and maybe some light cider. how does that sound?

For those of us that don't go out on these occasions it might be fun for some of us to be on the SO site while the game is playing. I know nothing of sports, so of course I'll have lots of stupid questions, but who knows maybe I'll learn something.

So can we have an online party on Sunday Super Bowl 50. Huh Lara? Huh? Can we? Pretty please?

I don't touch anything alcoholic either, @Ina I. Wonder , so your coffee and cider sounds wonderful.

I used to like football... and the Super Bowl was a big thing for me, but it fizzled over the years. Actually I even have an old football injury  but the interest is no longer there. I liked pro baseball even more years ago, but.... kind of grew out of that, too.
