Because I am on my computer from the time that I get up until I go to bed, I bought a standing desk, and I'm posting it here because it's really more of a health thing than one having to do with business or shopping. It cost just over $60 and, although I had to put it together, it wasn't too difficult, and it's sturdy, unlike some of the others I have seen that were basically music stands. With the standing desk, I can dance around and call it exercise (because no reasonable person would describe it as dance), and still not be away from my computer for long. I'm not used to standing at a desk yet, so my legs hurt, but that's a change from my butt hurting, and it's a simple matter to lower it to a sitting height, in order to take a break from standing. So I use my iMac in my office for a while each day, alternating between a regular chair and my kneeling chair, then I can go upstairs and use my MacBook Pro on my standing desk, alternating between standing at the desk and sitting on the couch. I think it was a good idea.
It's a great idea to help back problems as well...and as you say as soon as one thing hurts you can just change position and go sit down...
Sounds like a very good idea for you Ken Its a matter of finding things that suit us best - this may very well suit someone else too Never seen one before
Top adjustable up and down, so you could use it sitting down if you wanted to? I remember, back in my old warehouse/shipping and receiving days, that with some companies, computers were set up to where a clerk would have to stand to use it.
I think if we could hook that stand up desk to the elliptical exercise/bike then you could really get some exercise in there @Ken Anderson!
Especially having to be on much of the day, different positions would be better. Nice, little rig ken And yes, the pain in your butt, will match nicely with the pain in your legs now
It's cheaper than I expected and I would even think about getting one but my main problem is my tailbone and that just looks too painful.
Having been using my standing desk for a few days, I thought I'd report in. In short, I love it. When I sit down at my desk, it doesn't hurt anymore because I'm not there for 10-12 hours a day, and I haven't even been using my kneeling chair very often, although that's mostly because the bolts are coming loose and I've been too lazy to tighten them. I am getting better at typing while standing up, although it's still a bit clumsier than when I am sitting. I usually play music and dance around some while I am at the standing desk, anyhow. Then, when I get tired of standing, it only takes a moment to lower it to a sitting position, so I sit at the couch for a little while before going back to a standing position again. Then, after coming to a good stopping point in my job, sometime in the afternoon, I go downstairs to my office and get on the iMac, but I'm not there long enough for things to get painful. If they did, I could simply go back to the MacBook and the standing desk, anyhow. So it was a good buy. I just bought another one for my wife.
The standing chair is working so well that my wife wanted one. That's hers on the other end of the couch, with the box on top of it, in the lowered position, while mine is in the raised position, and that's Cutie cleaning herself on my pillow.
I'm one that doesn't like standing in one spot, either I have to be walking or moving...or sitting. My tailbone really starts to hurt if I'm in a standing position for too long.
I like that too and because I looked it up on Amazon, it's popping up everywhere for me...Facebook, etc. they're watching me, lol.
