i missed a lot of songs in the 70's because I was busy being a mom to babies but started listening again when my daughter became a teen in the mid 80's....I have quite a few favorites from those years....and for some reason the 80's don't usually make me cry. :)

I looked but didn't see the 80's posted so if it is @Ken Anderson can merge mine with it.

When I get downstairs, on my larger computer, I'll look for the other one. I don't see it right now. To the best of my knowledge though, they quit making songs in the late 1970s.

I actually liked Culture Club! One of my faves from the 80's.

    Ha ha, Patsy!

By the time my son was a teen it was heavy metal and that I didn't care for but knew the groups...9 inch nails, smashing pumpkins, and others.

I never really listened to the songs though and just recently I listened to a song by 9 inch nails because my son was shocked that I knew who they were. Then when I came home from Illinois i listened to the song...YIKES! Lol

When Pink Floyd came out with their The Wall album in 1979 or 1980, they hadn't done much of anything for a few years. I think their last couple of albums hadn't done well, and they seemed to be on their way out. My son, who was fourteen or fifteen at the time, brought The Wall album home, and was very surprised to find that, not only was I familiar with Pink Floyd, but I had seen them in concert. He considered Pink Floyd to be his music, and I had to point out that these people were older than I was. That was probably one of the best comebacks that I have seen though, since they gained a whole new fan base, plus they were able to keep those of who who had liked them before.

For some reason kids are shocked when we like something they like...or even shocked that we know it. You should have seen the look on my son's face when I mentioned Nine Inch Nails :)

I would tell you to listen to one song of theirs but I can't even type the title of it because it's so bad.

This is from 'Live Aid 85'.
Bowie, Queen, Dire Straits, U2, those are the ones I remember.

Was deployed a lot, so the music of the 80's was kind of lost for me.

Always liked the way she did this song.

There were some good groups and songs in the 80's in my opinion.

Funny, my wife hated her son listening to AC/DC back in the 80's, but now, whenever I play AC/DC music, she loves it. We both especially like their song, You Shook Me All Night Long. Her son would get a big kick out of what she listens to today, being married to me. She also likes the remake of the Kinks song, You Really Got Me done by Van Halen. Play, I Love Rock & Roll by Joan Jett and she will start dancing in our living room.
